If you’re used to loading up your Publix app with coupons and stocking up on necessities, planning a shopping trip right now can be challenging. Although a message from Publix CEO regarding coronavirus assures us that sanitation, product availability, and alternative shopping options are at the forefront of the store’s concern, you may still need some pointers on how and when to get your groceries.

As we all learn to navigate this time together, the Krazy Coupon Lady will continue covering Publix to ensure shoppers stay safe while getting the best deals possible. Shop Publix deals right here and stay tuned for updates.

Here are some helpful tips for shopping Publix during the coronavirus pandemic:

Publix hours

Publix has new hours to give employees more time to clean and restock. Hours of operation have temporarily adjusted companywide to 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. daily.

Publix pharmacy hours will also change to 9 a.m. – 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday, with normal pharmacy hours on Sunday.

Find your local Publix store hours here.

Senior shopping hours

Senior citizens can shop at Publix on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, from 7 a.m. – 8 a.m. The Publix Pharmacy will be open at 7 a.m. on those days to ensure high-risk customers are able to fill and pick up prescriptions safely.

Publix Passport

Publix recently rolled out a completely contactless pay option called Publix Passport. Similar to Google or Apple Pay, you’ll use your smartphone to pay for purchases instead of touching the PIN pad. This feature will expedite payment, and reduce contact with commonly used surfaces.

Publix supply and shopping limits

In efforts to combat low inventory, Publix is imposing limits on household items like paper products, sanitizers, meat, canned goods, and dairy. Each store has the flexibility to apply product limits as needed, so limit amounts will vary. Since firm restock times can’t be planned at this point, rain checks for items that are out of stock will not be given. Check your local store for postings to get specifics.

Supply restocks

Publix is getting trucks in a few times a week with products, but not on a set schedule. Employees disclosed the best time to shop is in the early morning after they’ve restocked the shelves the previous evening.

To discourage stockpiling, Publix is suspending refunds on products purchased during the coronavirus pandemic.

You can read more about their updated return policy on the Publix coronavirus FAQ page.

Publix pharmacy and prescriptions

Prescriptions still need to be picked up in person at Publix. Seniors are encouraged to do so during their designated shopping time on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, from 7 a.m. – 8 a.m.

Publix pickup and delivery

Publix Curbside Pickup and grocery delivery is available through Instacart. As you can guess, delivery and pickup times are limited due to high volume.

An Instacart Express membership costs $99 per year or $9.99 per month. It includes free Curbside Pickup and free grocery delivery with a minimum purchase of $35. Service fees may still apply, and membership fees don’t include the optional tips for the shopper or driver.

If you don’t sign up for the annual program, the fee for each delivery will be displayed when choosing your delivery or pickup window during checkout. Note that all orders must be $10 or more.

When experiencing high demand for a delivery time, Instacart may charge a Busy Pricing fee in addition to the delivery fee. Busy Pricing is shown clearly at checkout. It’s also important to note that coupons can’t be used when ordering groceries for pickup or delivery.

Publix jobs and staffing

Publix is currently hiring thousands of associates in stores and in distribution centers. The company is specifically encouraging those in service, manufacturing, warehousing, and other industries who are unexpectedly without work to apply.
