I have done about 75% of my couponing at Walmart without problems. I also don’t go often until I have a big trip lined up. I think people that are printing from personal computers may want to see if they can modify their printer settings to have better quality print outs so they will scan. I usually use my work’s industrial printer and have never had a problem printing a coupon. I also go to the public library every now and then if I get greedy and want a second coupon (I’m a glutton, I know!). I’ve never had a coupon that hasn’t scan that the cashier hasn’t just manually put in, but since the new changes I haven’t had a coupon that won’t scan. It might just depend on each Walmart. I personally love the stores because I have less problems than I would a place like Walgreens where my coupons are often still not deducted or I don’t get RRs. I guess it’s just location.

Walmart on Bush River RD, Columbia, SC also doe not like to take printable coupons. The cashier tried to embarrass me for using them, and so I made her one by one take the items out of the bag, and told her I’d just buy them somewhere else where they did take them. That was my only experience trying to use coupons at a Walmart store. That was around 6 months ago. I tried to show her that their policy doesn’t say anything about not accepting those coupons, but didn’t work.

Hopefully you will go again! Just ask for a manager next time. :D I hate to see such horror stories. I love Walmart for the overages!

i had red plum coupons that would not scan. i had purchased 9 of them and none would scan. the lady at the register told me the same thing but then i wanted the manager so then she could enter 5 but no more. i am like everyone else walmart needs to loose business and mine is going somewhere else i coupon shop for enjoyment and they sure know how to take the fun out of it.

I haven’t shopped at Walmart in almost a year but I’m just getting into couponing and thought this plus the deodorant deal would make it worth it but the other comments make me a little concerned. Also when I signed up I got a different coupon, $0.75/1 power meal. Guess I’m not getting my carrots after all :(

    • neha says:

oh even though the site says power meal, the coupon states $0.75 off any earthbound farm products.

Did you print the coupon? The printed coupon actually states “Any Earthbound Farm Product”.

The carrots were $.78 at my Walmart so only $.03 for a healthy snack. Thanks KCL!

P.S. Sorry so many of you all have been having a hard time with coupons at Walmart. I’ve never had trouble & they’re always very friendly & ask me where they could get coupons from as well. :)

My ShopRite doubled it last time (well, up to the full price, not over) even though it says not to, so the 2 lb bag was free. They don’t always have that brand, but they do pretty regularly. Looking for carrot recipes if this continues, lol.

Im to the point that I am not going to shop at Walmart anymore. I went today and there were a couple coupons that wouldnt scan for some reason. I got the exact products that were stated on the coupon.

The cashier told me that since they arent scanning, they cant accept them and thats a new policy they are doing now and they wont manually enter them anymore. She even called the manager over and she said that too. I ALWAYS have problems using coupons at Walmart!!

Were they printed coupons or newpaper ones? I always have trouble with the printed ones at walmart. Also mine would not scan on the register scanner but she got out the gun scanner and it scanned fine. Walmart will be sorry if they upset a bunch of people trying to save money.

    • NewCouponMomOf3 says:

Same thing at my Walmart. I have so many problems with my coupons going thru – and it’s pretty equal for them to be printed and clipped from the newspaper. I wasn’t aware of this policy until I spent a couple hours shopping, waiting in line, and was ending my checkout when some wouldn’t scan so she couldn’t take them. I put the items back that I had a coupon for and since then I’ve decided not to shop at Walmart if I have coupons for my items. I never know which ones will be accepted and which ones won’t be and it’s too bad Walmart didn’t make an official announcement about this. I agree that Walmart will realize the hurt this will do in the long run as they’ll lose more customers.

I’m done shopping there with printables too. There’s no use making a trip there when none of my coupons will scan :/ I would even understood it if they put limits on the printables like Kroger does, but to not accept them at all if they don’t scan, bs. How is it the customers fault that their scanners can’t read the barcodes.
