WiFi can be quiet pricey, but it’s pretty much a necessity — so finding free WiFi is a pretty big deal.

We’ve dug to find the best resources to get you access to the internet whether you’re at home or on the road.

1. Download Instabridge to find WiFi networks and passwords.

Instabridge not only finds you WiFi in your area but has many of the passwords as well.

No more having to ask for the password in cafes and restaurants.

2. Use the cable service you already pay for to find WiFi.

If you have cable service with XFINITY, Cox Communications, Spectrum or Optimum, you can use the Cable WiFi website to locate more than 500,000 Wi-Fi hotspots scattered across the U.S.

By going to their website you can browse your provider’s closest hotspot.

3. Tether your smart device to other devices to use your data plan.

Tethering allows you to use your mobile data plan to connect to the internet on another device.

For example, you can use your phone as a mobile hotspot via Bluetooth, and you just have to enter a code on your laptop.

CAUTION: Tethering a device does use up a lot of data, so it might not be the best option if you have a metered plan or one that slows down after an amount of time.

4. Use the WiFi Anywhere app or the WiFi FreeSpot Directory to find internet on-the-go.

Download the free app to see where the closest free WiFi is. You can even test the network’s speed.

Use the online directory to find free WiFi hotspot locations — sorted by airport, city/state, country and many other filters.

5. Go to Everyone On’s to find free or affordable internet by you

Everyone On is a website that works to bring internet access to low-income families.

All you have to do is plug in your zip code and answer a couple questions to see if you qualify for free or low-price internet deals.

They work with cable and wireless ISPs to find you affordable internet, usually between $10-$20/month.

6. Visit the Freedom Pop site to order a hotspot and get free internet.

You will have to buy a modem starting at $24.99 and a $9.99 activation fee but your 4G LTE will then be free.

The catch is you only get 200 MB per month, which is enough to check email and some sites, but not enough to watch any videos or stream shows. For example, a one-minute HD YouTube video uses about 12 MB.

But if you only use your internet to check your email and Facebook here and there, its a good deal.

7. Use these reliable public WiFi services.

via REBRN

Here are some good places to find reliable free internet out and about:

  • Starbucks
  • Your public library
  • Most airports
  • Barnes and Noble
  • McDonald’s
  • The Apple Store

8. Ask your neighbor if they’d like to split a WiFi plan.

via Ring

This might not be a free option, but if you split the bill with your neighbor, you could save a lot of money.
