How to decide what type of vacuum to buy
Cordless, robot, and flexible canister vacuums. You’ll find a vacuum to suit just about any need around the house right now. While vacuums might not be on the list as a stocking stuffer, catching a deal on a vacuum right now can help make everyday cleaning much easier.
Tip: Finding the right vacuum is a little more involved than simply finding a good deal. I’m picky about vacuum cleaners, and I have one main room in my house with carpet. It’s a high-pile carpet, and I like it clean. I’ve gone through a few vacuum cleaners looking for my perfect match. In hindsight, I wish I would have decided what I needed before I jumped on every great vacuum deal only to find out they weren’t a good fit for my needs. Here are a few questions to ask yourself:
What type of carpet do you have?
If your carpet is thick, you need something that can handle it. A Shark Rotator Powered Lift-Away or a Dyson Ball is a good option here. Now, if you have mostly hard floors and some shorter pile rugs or carpets, a Dyson Motorhead or Shark Navigator would probably be sufficient.
Do you want to make the jump to a robot vacuum?
If you want something to do quick cleanups for you, this is a good option. But look for models that remember the layout of your home, and plan to still do some deep vacuuming on a regular basis.
