Planet Fitness is giving teens free workouts with their popular High School Summer Pass program. Registration begins May 13, 2024 (online and in-club).
The national gym chain has been letting teens workout for free during the summer since 2018. What started as a pilot program in Planet Fitness’ home state of New Hampshire quickly grew to be a nationwide hit. Now, these free workouts are available at the more than 2,000 Planet Fitness locations.
It’s at least $35 worth of workout fees for free. Now that’s a student discount.
We’ll tell you all about the program, how to sign up for the Summer Pass, and what adults can expect.
(Not a teen? It’s all good — we’re amassing a list of free workouts for adults, too.)
Note, Planet Fitness has yet to release the details for the Summer Pass 2024. We'll update this post as soon as we get the scoop!
Ages 14 – 19 can work out for free with the Planet Fitness Summer Pass.
In the past, Summer Pass participants could also take advantage of free fitness classes through the Planet Fitness PE@PF program at participating locations. You could sign up for classes through the free Planet Fitness mobile app or by visiting your local club.
There were no time limits with the Summer Pass; participants can work out anytime during their local Planet Fitness gym’s hours.
Sign up for the Summer Pass online or in-club (with parent permission).
To sign up for the High School Summer Pass program at Planet Fitness, participants can register online at the Planet Fitness website or in person at any PF club starting May 13, 2024. Participants who are under 18 must have a parent or guardian sign the electronic waiver or be present to sign the waiver in-club.
Once the waiver is signed, participants who are under 18 or the age of majority in their jurisdiction can work out alone (without an adult).
Summer Pass participants can win $10,000 for themselves, and $10,000 for their school.
In 2023, High School Summer Pass participants could enter for a chance to win a $10,000 scholarship (10 winners) by submitting a 15- to 30-second TikTok video. In the video, participants shared their Summer Pass experience, while tagging @PlanetFitness and #HSSP23US.
The program also included a new leaderboard feature that tracked the number of sign-ups from each school. Each of the top 10 schools on the leaderboard (5 from the US and 5 from Canada) received a $10,000 grant for new athletic equipment, field renovations, physical fitness classes, and health and wellness classes.
