Fall is the best time of the year to vacation on a budget — mostly because schools start back up. Everyone is busy, which means fewer crowds and lower prices.

Here’s a list of all the best cheap fall vacations in the United States to check out this year.

1. Disney World and Disneyland

Go to Disney World and Disneyland in September when most kids are back in school to avoid the crowds and the higher prices. Not only will you be saving money, but you’ll also be avoiding the hot weather.

If you want to experience Disneyland or Disney World when it’s decorated for Halloween, go Monday through Thursday in October. Disneyland will have select days with an Oogie Boogie Bash Disney Party and Halloween Horror Nights. Disney World will be celebrating with Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party starting in September and running through the end of October.

Also, Disney World is currently offering Mid-Day Magic discount tickets that can save you up to 27% this fall! Tickets are available for purchase until December 15th, 2019.

2. National parks

Going out into nature is one of the best fall vacations you can take and super budget-friendly if you go camping. Some of the best parks to check out that’ll still have great camping weather in the fall are:

  • Big Bend National Park, Texas
  • Congaree National Park, South Carolina
  • Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Tennesee and North Carolina
  • Blue Spring State Park, Florida
  • Yosemite National Park, California
  • Zion National Park, Utah

September 28 is National Public Lands Day and November 11 is Veterans Day. You can get into national parks totally FREE on both days.

It’s also a great idea to visit really popular parks like Yellowstone in the fall when everyone’s in school. You’ll be able to see more and have fewer traffic jams to worry about. Fall is also the best time to see bears and elk in Yellowstone!

3. Six Flags

Get tickets for the weekdays in September and October for Six Flags when prices are low and crowds aren’t so crazy. You can also save up to $20.00 if you choose to go during the week.

Tickets are as low as $46.99 in September and October. In the summer, the lowest price was $54.99.

4. Hilton Head, South Carolina

Vacation on a budget by visiting Hilton Head during September and October. You’ll get smaller crowds and lower prices on lodging.

You’ll most likely get some great beach weather with temperatures in the 70s and 80s during the day. Hilton Head also has tons of fall festivals to check out like the Italian Heritage Festival, Burgers and Brew Fest and the Oyster Festival.

5. Boston, Massachusetts

Check out Boston if you want a gorgeous cheap fall vacation. Flights tend to be cheaper to Boston in September. Shop for flights and hotels through Ibotta to save even more. Get a percentage back when you shop on sites like Orbitz, CheapOair and Booking.com all through the Ibotta app or site. We often see up to 8% cash back on Ibotta for travel sites.

6. Tulsa, Oklahoma

Tulsa is the second-largest city in Oklahoma and is full of free activities for your family to enjoy.

One of the best free spots is The Gathering Place, made up of 70 acres of land. The Gathering Place has tons of family-friendly activities including play structures, slides, pirate ships, concerts and rental boats.

If you somehow run out of things to do at the park, check out the Gilcrease Museum, full of Western American art. Learn all about America’s prehistory, settlement and expansion. Adult tickets are just $8.00 and anyone under 18 is free!

7. Disney cruises

Save money on Disney cruises by choosing to go two to three weeks after school starts. It’s inconvenient if you have kids, but that’s what brings the prices down. You can choose from different destinations like New York, Pacific Coast, Canada and Florida.

Go at the end of October to enjoy Halloween on the High Seas on one of four ships:

  • Disney Magic (NY to Canada or Bermuda)
  • Disney Wonder (starts in San Diego, CA)
  • Disney Dream (near Orlando, FL)
  • Disney Fantasy (near Orlando, FL)

A Disney cruise in Florida costs as low as $1,323.00 in October. A similar one in July costs almost double at $2,359.00.

Go earlier in the fall to get less rainfall, but still pack an umbrella. Check out Pike’s Place Market, the Space Needle and the diverse neighborhoods as you walk around the city. Visit in October to see the Earshot Jazz Festival!

9. Sacramento, California

Fly to Sacramento in the fall when airfare is cheaper. The weather is still beautiful, and adults can enjoy the wineries for a lower price than you’d find in Napa, where wine tastings range up to $50.00 a person.

Some wineries to check out include the Frasinetti Winery Revolution Wines and the Underground Tasting Room. Yelp reviewers claim some of them even have $5.00 or free wine tasting!

10. Savannah, Georgia

Savannah is beautiful in the fall. Trees with changing leaves line the roads through the city and create a tunnel effect. There are also tons of great activities to get involved in like the Savannah Jazz Festival, Picnic in the Park and the Tybee Island Pirate Festival.

If you’re looking for cheap vacations in October, Savannah is definitely the place for you. It’s one of the most haunted cities in America and has several spooky tours to take, such as the Savannah Ghost Encounter, the Savannah Haunted Pub Crawl, Bonaventure Cemetery Tours and the Grave Encounters Trolley Tour.
