How did you get $2.08? I went to Kmart and the prices were the same but the total came to $7.06 with tax. Not $2.08. Each item was 1.41 each. Still a pretty good deal. 57% savings.

I would check and make sure they gave you the $5 instant savings.

          I don’t get $2.08 either, even with the $5 instant savings…Am I missing something?

I bought 5 boxes of the cereal that were marked “$10 off Jeans”. You can mail in 5 Special K Tokens that are found on the back of the boxes and they will send you a $10 voucher. The order form is in the box. It turned this deal into a moneymaker for me.

Here’s how you get to roughly 2 bucks…

        5 boxes @ 2.50 each = 12.50
Kmart gives you five bucks back when you buy 5 boxes… 12.50-5 = 7.50.

If you use 5 1$ off coupons (one for each box) you get to about 2.50.

This isn’t quite 2.08, but it’s close enough for me to care about it.

I tried to do this today. I had 4 boxes of Special K cereal, 1 box of Special K crackers (in addition to 4 Ziploc and 1 Colgate toothpaste). I had $1 coupons for everything that doubled…even the $1.50 Ziploc coupons.

However, the $5 instant savings didn’t come off on my receipt. So I went back to the store, and in addition to making me wait for 30+ minutes, I did not get my issue resolved. I was told that because I was using coupons, I couldn’t get the $5 back (only about $2.44). At this point, I didn’t feel that I needed to make my 2 children (both under age 3) wait any longer so I just left.

I did call corporate and file a complaint (as far as their manager on duty being extremely rude), but those of you who have done this $5 deal…is this right what they told me? Am I not entitled to the $5 savings since I had used doubled coupons on the cereal?

I should clarify that my bill was $7.36 (i.e. it was not less than $5)

That was incorrect information they gave you. You should still get the $5 off, even if you have used coupons. I have done it and have read of many others who haven’t had any trouble whatsoever with this. I would call and complain.
