Kroger 101: How the Krazy Coupon Lady Shops Kroger

Kroger is a great place to shop using coupons. They have tons of store coupons, double coupons, rewards and great grocery sales. The Mid-Atlantic Kroger ad runs Sunday to Saturday.
Read and print out Kroger’s Digital Coupon Policy and Printable Coupon Policy.

Part 1: Coupons accepted by Kroger

Manufacturer Newspaper Coupons: Items purchased must be what is specified on the coupon. The amount saved cannot exceed the cost of the item. Expired coupons will not be accepted.

Printable Coupons: Kroger accepts printable coupons. Buy one get one free coupons will be honored as long as the purchase requirements are met. Free product coupons will not be accepted if there are no purchase requirements for completion.

Double Coupon Policy: Kroger is eliminating double coupons region by region in favor of lower prices, digital coupons and promotions. Select stores may still double manufacturer coupons worth $0.50 or less. Coupons $0.50 to $1.00 will be redeemed for $1.00. Coupons over $1.00 will be redeemed at face value. Double coupons do not apply to free item, Kroger, Catalina or electronic coupons added to your Kroger Plus card.

eCoupons: Kroger accepts eCoupons from Cellfire, ShortCuts, Kroger, and P&G! Stacking eCoupons with other coupons is not allowed.

Catalina Coupons: Gray Catalina machines located at registers dispense long, receipt-like coupons. Catalina coupons may be store or manufacturer coupons. They can be for a dollar-amount off your next transaction or a specific product coupon.

Part 2: What makes Kroger KRAZY!

BOGO Sale: Kroger stores allow you to use two value-amount off coupons on a store BOGO promo since you are purchasing two items.

10 for $10.00: When purchasing Kroger 10 for $10.00, you do not need to purchase 10 items; each item will be priced at $1.00 per item. You can mix and match products, along with using coupons.

Kroger Plus Rewards Card: For every $100 you spend at Kroger using your store loyalty card, receive a deduction of $0.10 on any grade fuel on your next fill-up at a participating fuel center. Limit one car only, up to 25-gallons maximum fill-up. Sign up for the Kroger Plus Rewards Card at the customer service desk!

Remember that Kroger policy will vary from region to region, and this policy is specifically for the Mid-Atlantic region!

I just went to kroger and saved 39.04. But I didn’t have coupons for things we got so I guess if I had coupons for them I would have saved more.

Kroger doesn’t double coupons in houston anymore and if u have a coupon on ur kroger card they force u to use it instead of the manufactures coupon. A good thing going on right now is that they r doing 4x gas points when u buy a lowes sears I tunes or outback steak house gift certificate but u have to buy 100 dollars in gift cards to get 40 cents off a gallon that’s pretty good still.

I live in Fort Lauderdale,FL & there are no Krogers nearby . Any other store suggestions ?

Not all Kroeger stores double coupons.

In a recent trip to Kroger, my friend was told that they will no longer accept more than 3 like coupons in a single day. Have you heard this? And do you think this can be enforced since they have not updated it on their coupon policy?

Ok great….sorry about that! LOL! I tried to post once at work and it would not load after a long post…ok, I ran into a big issue and I’d LOVE some advice. The last time I was at Kroger, I had received 4 $25 credits on my card because of transferred prescriptions. YAY! (Our only car just broke down with a $2000 bill which we cannot pay for, so this came in a great time!)

Anyhow, I shopped and used my Kroger card as usual. I presented the checker with 2 coupons. 1 was a manu and the other was a Kroger coupon that they sent to me with other personal coupons based on what I buy frequently. I was there after 8 pm. The checker took everything with no problem, until this other lady, who I’ve had poor customer service from before, came over and butted in. She stopped the checker saying she couldn’t do the coupons cause then they would owe me money after using the RX reward on the card. She just kept telling me I couldn’t do it, even tho I politely told her that I had the Kroger corporate coupon policy with me and it said nothing about that. She wouldn’t even look at it. The checker was very nice and tried to brainstorm as to how to get around the computer issue.

So after a minute or 2 I just asked the rude one if a manager might be able to help me out and fix the problem. She kept telling me there was no manager on duty at that time of night. The managers leave at 8 pm, and there is no one here, she kept saying. I said that was fine, but would like to talk with whoever was in charge. She replied, ‘There are no managers here now.’ She said that about 100 times and did not answer my questions of, when they are not here, who is in charge? Our store is open 24 hours/day, and I find it absolutely unbelievable that NO ONE is in charge ALL NIGHT LONG! So I just stayed calm and tried to ask my question in a different way, and she just replied over and over, there are no managers here now.

I even asked the nice checker if the problem would be resolved if we cancelled the whole thing and she did the coupons before my Kroger card RX credit. She said it would be ok for the manu Q, but the Kroger Q required the card to be scanned to be accepted. I explained that I was sorry to be having a hassle and that it was a shame that the managers left the employees without direction. The checker and the others that got involved were super nice, but this other lady was horrible (as usual!). Finally she said that there was someone out on the floor that was stocking things, but that he was only going to tell me the same thing. I had to ask repeatedly for her to please get him…she went off in a huff.

The guy that came had actually helped me already that night and was very nice. I explained the issue and he said the problem was ‘how do we owe you any money when the register says you had a zero balance?’ I explained I never asked for money back, only that I would like to use my coupon that was clearly within Kroger’s coupon policy allowed, but the computer would not honor it. In the mean time, FINALLY the checker went to phone the manager, and came back with the reply, just give her the cash of the coupon’s value. So that was taken care of, but now I have this issue because I still have some credit and plan to use other Qs. They did explain that the computer does the RX credit as a store Q and that is why it would not allow others. Anyone else run into this? KCL, what should I do?????? Sorry to be so long winded! ;)

I feel for you. Due to my schedule, I used to shop Kroger at night. When they started “freaking out” about coupon use and changed their policies, I began having problems at night since at my Kroger it seems there is no one in charge either. Last time I went I calmly explained that it seemed unfair to be opened 24 hours and have 2-3 people working at night – with no manager. duh. I rarely shop there now (and if I do, it’s during the day only) – I have switched to Walmart and Target and I save so much more money.

On the digital coupons, if I have one of them for $2.00 off of Brawny and I also had a paper coupon for $1.00 off. I can’t use them both right? So my best deal would be the digital coupon, right?

I wanted to let people know that if you load coupons on your Kroger’s card the store policy is they HAVE to scan your kroger card and it will take off those coupons instead of your paper manufacturers coupons. SO the best advice I can tell you is if you find a better coupon then log in to the website and remove the ecoupon from your card. ESPECIALLY if the one you find can be doubled or tippled!

I live in Tennessee and my local Kroger store doubles coupons up to 60 cents. Thanks for adding Kroger to you KCL line up.

    • Laney says:

Hey Missy…where in TN? I live in Sevierville and here they only double to .50 and face value after that. If driving to another area would get me more savings, it might be worth it.

  19. Jane says:

I also am thrilled to see Krogers finally on here. That is my main groacery store i shop at. I also would love to see some match up deals with this store posted on here. I live in Ky and they double coupons up to 50 cents here and face value after that.
They also automatically take off the e-coupons as well as the paper ones :)

I have bought the mega sale items. spend 10 receive instant 5. well when i look at my receipt it says the price and the kroger savings under it and at the end of the receipt it says the 5 dollars deducted. for instance i bought 10 packs bar s franks at 1.79 each under neath it says .40 cents kroger savings which the ad says buy 10 and you get 50 cents off and also the 5 instant savings. should the receipt say 1.79 and under neath the 50 cents off then the 5 instant savings im so confused on the receipt i want to say they messed up and this is the second time this has happened. this was during the but 10 items save 5 dollars instantly.

I, too, am VERY happy to see that you have begun to include Kroger on your site!

As an FYI on one comment above concerning stacking of manu q’s, Kroger store q’s and ecoupons: I researched this very subject online about two months ago and couldn’t find a succinct answer so I went to my local Dayton, Ohio Kroger head manager (whom I adore) and asked him if ecoupons will stack with other q’s. He didn’t know the answer so we went to talk to the head of the cashiers. She said “Kroger ecoupons are NOT supposed to combine with any other type of coupon.” The store manager said thanks and walked away. After he left, she said quietly “Psst… but our computers are not smart enough to catch them.”

Basically, shop at your own risk. If you have a REALLY on top of things cashier, they might actually wonder why your paper q’s are beeping at them if you happen to have already redeemed an ecoupon for the same product. If you have a cashier who doesn’t care why her machine is beeping at her, GO FOR IT!

I’m SO happy to see Kroger on your site! I check it all the time fro other stores, but Kroger is my primary store! I hope you continue to post it!!

  25. Susan says:

so happy that you have kroger this week! this is my main shopping store. would love to see this included every week! thank you, thank you! this is my favorite place to score free colgate toothpaste and then donate to our church’s homeless ministry!

  26. Katrina says:

AZ Kroger stores (Fry’s) currently match all manufacturer coupons to $1 & also accept other store coupons. You can stack a store coupon w/a manufacturer coupon and even stack it with an ecoupon. This makes for some fabulous deals! Glad to see more info about Kroger on here.

  27. Kristy says:

Is the 0.55-0.99 going to a dollar deal just for certain Kroger stores? Indianapolis area ones do not.

    • The Krazy Coupon Lady says:

It depends on the region and store.

    • greta says:

My stores don’t either and I am in VA. I don’t know what is more mid-atlantic than that. Would you link the coupon policy pretty please, I can’t seem to find it on their website. Thank you!

      • Lmayz90 says:

I know the Kroger store where I live in VA only doubles coupons on Wednesdays. And they only double up to a $1.00. Hope this helps. just try to contact your store to see when or if they offer double coupons,

The Kroger here in TX lets you double up to .50 and triple up to .39.

      • Amanda says:

i love krogers i have been shopping there for a few months and i have see i great big differences in the prices that i pay everywhere eles both use coupons on everything that i buy ….and here in texas they double up to 50 and triple up to 39 so it’s worth it in the long run….

  28. Beth says:

One other thing about Kroger is when they have a “mega” deal where if you buy 10 featured items and it deducts $5 from your total (as an example), you must buy exact multiples of 10 or else the odd amounts will not trigger the discount. You have to check your receipt to make sure it counted all the items as the mega ones and go to the customer counter for an adjustment if it didn’t catch them all or if you miscounted.

  29. Lynda says:

I had a problem with a seafood product I bought. The manager gave me a credit on my Kroger card toward my next purchase, I appreciated that.

  30. Sabrina says:

KCL—-when will you have Kroger on your list of stores??? I love the store, but have a hard time finding matchups the way you do for the store! I would LOVE to see it on your site every week….PLEASE!!!!

  31. Jammie says:

i also love krogers. i have been shopping there for years now the only thing i cant seem to do is get my bill down to a few dollars. i usually spend as much as i save but hit still helps.

  32. raegina says:

i love kroger! last week i bought 20 cans of Del Monte vegetables for $5.20 (sadly had no cpns to use!) could only purchase 20 at a time but there was no limit to how many times you could go back so went back 4 times. and i have never had a problem using as many cpns as i wish – unlike the other store in our area
