In today’s P&G there is a $1.00 off coupon for Cascade dish detergent that has no size restrictions! :) However, it does say, “Limit of 4 Like Coupon per shopping trip” which means you can only purchase four of these items in a single transaction.  You can pick up the trial size at Walmart for FREE with this coupon! These should be found in the regular dish soap aisle.

Cascade, trial size $0.97, Regular Price
Use $1.00/1  Cascade, Any from P&G 7/31
Final Price: FREE + $0.03 overage

Thanks, Consumer Queen

My local walmart is starting to harass couponers about getting free items such as this. So it’s very important that you always keep your coupon policy with you- even when you think you’re not going to have a problem.
Yesterday I went shopping and tried this and thankfully I did have my policy on hand because the cashier would not allow the transaction so they called the front end manager who called the accounting manager. The accounting manager told me that it was walmart’s policy not to give overage and I showed her my policy which I had on hand. I asked her if walmart had changed their policy recently and if so could she print out a copy for me because I would be happy to play by the rules- as long as the rules are written down. She in turn called over the assistant manager who ok’d my transaction. However, he did say that walmart corporate was discussing changing their policy yet again to deny people overage however, the new policy was only discussed about, not yet implemented. So this is a head’s up- keep your coupon policy on hand, and keep your eyes and ears open b/c the policy may change again and don’t let walmart harass you if you are a couponer.

I have a question about trial sized items. I subscribe to three Sunday papers a week. And I have a fairly large family. As much as I love couponing, I also pay attention to unit cost.

For example, for the trial sized Cascade (3 pack) they are about 32 cents each if the cost is .97 for the pack.

I was able to get at CVS a 20 count pack for 2.99 minus my dollar coupon, for the unit price of .10 each.

I understand that you only pay tax for the trial size, but they will last one day in my house. And I only have 3 coupons. I hope this makes sense. And if someone can explain to me the benefit, I am willing to learn something new.

    • Peacejoy80 says:

Really good question. I wonder the same thing sometimes on certain items. For example, you could get an even better deal with extra bucks or coupon machine print outs sometimes. In my case, I’ve got a good stockpile on these and eat tv dinners a lot and don’t use my dishwasher on an everyday basis. For me, these will be great stockpile item for Xmas stocking stutters! Thus trial size takes the prize – this week anyway! Thoughts anyone else?

    • Adhis says:

I say you found yourself a good deal! Every person must judge for themselves what is a good deal (taking into account how many coupons they have access to, the time they spend in acquiring them, what stores are nearby).

For me, in this Cascade scenario, the unit cost for using the coupon on the trial size is $0.00, which is better than 10c each. There will always be coupons and sales that make SOME detergent free or close to a killer deal, so I stock up when that happens and don’t worry about the times when I only have three coupons. (I’m still using detergent from the Finish coupon/Target deal back in the winter/spring.)

If I typically bought this over-priced product (which I do not), I would only apply a coupon to the larger size if it was on SALE.

  23. I am fairly new to couponing and I have a question that I cant find the answer to….does walmart price match before or after rr/ecb rewards?

    • Erin Martino says:

Bev – it honestly depends on your Walmart. I know that’s not a good answer but I’ve read on this site that some people get the price match with and without RR/ECBs. I haven’t done it but I would imagine they wouldn’t match with the rewards just because they’d be giving me something for free. Good luck! Hope this helps!

Just picked up 4 of these, Thanks!

Walmart’s coupon policy states that they do not have a limit on like coupons. I did this the last time the Cascade coupons came out and bought more than 4 in one transaction. I just made sure I had the coupon policy handy, but they didn’t give me any trouble!

  27. Gatwey says:

Last time this coupn was out, the manager at Walmart almost didn’t let me use it. At first she told me that coupons cannot be used on trail size items. I told her it did not say it on the coupon, so she tried reading it and couldnt because she didnt have her galsses so I had to read it to her. Then she tried telling me it was in their coupon policy, luckily I had the policy with me that day and asked her to show me where that was at. She was unable to show me and accepted the coupons telling me that people like me are why their shelves are always empty. I had to laugh at this because I only purchased 4. Any how, last time I was shopping there, she somehow remembered me and stopped me to tell me to look at the coupon policy again that it was now added, but I have yet to see it added. I keep checking back but it is the same policy I have printed out already.

  28. I went to Walmart and this coupon made the register beep AND print out a journal saying item needed not purchased!!!!! The manager got pissy and overrode it but said she wont do it again because its not just beeping its printing saying its not there!!

To alot of people that are having trouble with the coupons! I work for walmart as a cashier in GA and if the register will not take the coupon we can manually put that price in! as long as we make sure the wording is exact to the product you buy! So next time tell the cashier that they can enter the price (witch would be $1) and hit vendor coupon! Because we can take it becuse of the wording not the picture!!!!! I’ve had alot of customers where this has happened! Good luck to all! Oh and im also an coupon freak so i guess that’s why i love it when customers come through my line with lots of coupons!!!

  32. Ktoungette says:

  34. Jez_03 says:

Wal mart will let you do more than 4 I did 21 in 1 transaction. They also keep a good stock and I didn’t buy out the whole shelf. Everytime I go in there the shelf is full. :-)

  35. Klenich7950 says:

Boo! My Walmart wouldn’t let me use them on the trial size cause the coupon has a pic if the product on it that says a quantity of 16. Anyone else have this problem? I’m thinking about going to a diff. Walmart.

    • Megustanloscupones says:

You should go to a different Walmart. The picture on the coupon is just a suggestion, it’s the wording that matters.

  36. Guest says:

Every time I try to use a coupon for a trial size item to get an item free, the register beeps and the cashier tells me either they don’t accept coupons for trial size or that I have to use the coupon for the larger size. Is that suppose to be right?

    • Mary Hughes says:

I have never had any trouble with trial sizes at Walmart.

      • Guest says:

I went to two of my closest Walmarts and it happened for both.. I even told the cashier that there were no size restrictions for those, but they still refused the coupon. =(

    • Wagnercoupon says:

the reason the register is beeping ,it is asking if the price of the coupon is 1.00. because the register knows the regular price is 97 cents and you will be making money on it, all they have to do is ok it.

    • BrianaA says:

I did this last night and I had 2 older cascade coupons(the one that expire 7/31) and they worked fine until the new ones from yesterday scanned. They beeped and the machine said they were for the wrong product-she examined the coupon and told me about how they beep for no reason and manually entered it in. Just push it up and talk to the manager.

  39. Sacajc says:

Sorry, I know this is probably dumb question… but I’m confused about overage. The checkers I always end up with are usually kind of nasty :( Do they automatically add the overage into your basket purchase? Like does the register pick up on the overage and its automatic, or do these cashiers just do what they want and I am supposed to ask them? I’m talking walmart mainly.. Im not interested in getting actual cash but I’d like to add that overage to my basket price. Hope that makes sense, I just feel awkward and hope they don’t just cheat mr out of tht part. Thanks for anything in advance!

I have a question, if anyone could please reply…I’d appreciate it! I went to Wal-Mart today to use the Tide $1/1 CPN, Reach $1/1, and the Degree deo $1/1. I got 4 Reach products (FREE), and 3 Degree deos/travel size (FREE), but I was unable to get the Tide travel size free (the register beeped). The cashier said it was because I had to actually get a bottle of the Tide detergent, but the coupon didn’t specify size. I told her two times that if the coupon does not specify size, I can get any size I want. To that she responded I had to get a bigger size, I didn’t fight it because I had a cranky two year old with a dirty diaper and my daughter asking me a million questions a minute so I just left. But shouldn’t I be able to get the travel size if the coupon does not specify a size?

    • Sandy says:

Yes, usually that is the case, but of course YMMV, especially when dealing with Wal-Mart associates. But yes, you should be able to get whatever size is available.

    • Ashley Sanchez says:

this happened to me today too & I told them to cancel my whole order.

    • Same here! says:

This happened to me a few weeks ago when the cascade and tide were offering the same deal. The cashier wouldn’t budge on her reasoning as to why it wouldn’t accept the coupon – because I needed to purchase something other than a trial size. I too explained that was’t the wording on the coupon but when she continuted to disagree I didn’t fight it, just didn’t purchase those things. But it is frustrating that it works for some and not with others. I’m tempted to try it again with these coupons but don’t want the hassle if I get another cashier like that.

      • LoveFree says:

I want to try again also. I’ve used some coupons that “beeped” before but the cashier just entered it manually. I think from now on I’ll choose my cashiers more carefully, especially at Wal-Mart. I really do think that the younger males are more patient and willing to help you out.

As long as the Q doesn’t have a size you can use it on any size. The next time that happens get her to suspend your order and call corporate right then and there. I understand with the kids not the ideal situation at the time. I held up a line with a cashier that refused to budge and the matter was handled within about 5 min with corporate.

  52. Jamie says:

Yeah, I special bought some Qs for this after doing the math. Last time I bought these it cost me $3 with stacked Qs (store + Manuf). So it cost me about .15 a pop. This’ll cost me nothing and I can fill up the bags I just emptied. I’ll take the extra hassle to do several trips. The Wal-Mart is just steps from my place.

  55. Brandi says:

Jacqueline- that’s my thought on “per transaction” exactly… these coupons however specifically say “4 like coupons PER SHOPPING TRIP”… they DO NOT say “PER TRANSACTION”. To ME those are entirely different.

    • Tisha9878 says:

Wow. I just noticed that on the coupon. Good point.

    • Jacquelinenash says:

Yeah but per shopping trip to both me and the KCL’s simply means a single transaction is one shopping trip. It’s kind of like you would go in to the the store, get everything you need for a first transaction, put it in your car and do number 2 a second shopping trip, except you don’t have to go to that much length, you just separate the transactions on the conveyer belt. As a helpful tip and to be courteous to other shoppers, let those who get in line behind you know of your plans sometimes you can also let them go in front of you depending on what they are paying for!

      • Thekrazycouponlady says:

Exactly what we mean. Thanks Jacqueline!

        • Brandi says:

I’m saddened by this. I always loved that KCL was such an advocate for ethical, fair & legal couponing up to this point. From a great post on your site earlier this year : “A Krazy Coupon Lady ALWAYS obeys every letter of text on every coupon!” & “I hope that my readers understand that I will never support the misuse of coupons in any way”… Again, apparently I need to seek clarification from P&G as to their definition of a shopping trip as they are the ones who ratified the wording, not KCL.

    • Jacquelinenash says:

Limit of 4 like coupons per transaction means that, in a single transaction you can use up to 4 of the same coupon, one coupon per item purchased of course. So say you had like 8 of this particular coupon, since their is a limit of 4 like coupons per single transaction, you would have to do a 2nd transaction. 4 like (same) coupons in transaction #1 and 4 same coupons in transaction #2

  60. if only my store had them or if people didnt clear the shelves

  61. Ordered me 60 coupons, hoping i can have walmart special order them so i dont clear shelf. Anyone tried this before or any recommendations??

    • Lesli says:

where do you order coupons from?? I’d like to learn how to do this.

      • Jamie says:

I usually do Ebay. I can usually find them there in greater quantity and with free shipping than I can on a clipping service. Some people hate e-bay thinking it’s fairly hit-or-miss. If you go with people who have high ratings, and use Buy It Now you’ll rarely be disappointed. I’ve always found it to be fairly awesome.

        • Irvingcouponguy says:

So next time tell the cashier that they can enter the price (witch would be $1) and hit vendor coupon! Because we can take it becuse of the wording not the picture!!!!! I’ve had alot of customers where this has happened! Good luck to all! Oh and im also an coupon freak so i guess that’s why i love it when customers come through my line with lots of coupons!!!

Can you help me with my above post? My walmart will not accept my coupons for the trial size cascade.

Sad! My WM’s shelves were cleared off.

The good news is that they were carrying them! Maybe next week!
