So, I have a question. Trying to learn how to coupon here. When a coupon says, No more than 4 coupon (of any kind) for the same product in the same transaction, can you use 4 of the same coupon, or 4 different coupon for the same product? I don’t want to feel stupid as I already am, when I check out and they won’t let me use 4 of the same coupon for one product. Thanks! Let me know!

    • Anonymous says:

You can never use more than 1 coupon for one single item. It is ALWAYS 1 item : 1 coupon. When a coupon says “No more than 4 like coupons (of any kind) for the same product” or something similar, it means that in any transaction (or trip, if that’s what the coupon says), only 4 like coupons can be used for the same type of item. Here’s an example:
If you buy (5) Tide laundry detergents and you have (5) $1 off 1 coupons that say “Limit 4 like coupons per shopping trip”, you would only be able to use (4) of your $1 off 1 coupons in that trip even if you were buying all 5 detergents and had 1 coupon per item.
The words “of any kind”, I think, refer to newspaper, printable, electronic, or other types of coupons. This keeps people from using 4 newspaper coupons, 4 printables and 4 e-coupons to purchase 12 items with coupons. They only want you to use 4 coupons for that product, period.
      I hope that makes sense…

      • Anonymous says:

Yes, kinda makes sense to me. So, I can use 4 of the same newspaper inserts on one item?

        • Anonymous says:

No, not on one single item. If you buy (4) of that item, you can use (4) coupons, one for each item you purchase. You can NEVER use more than 1 coupon on 1 item.

          • Anonymous says:

Yikes. Thanks! One more question. If the store have a buy two for 3$, can I use a store or store website coupon $1/1, and mfr coupon $1/1? Will it equal 1$ for those two items?

            • Anonymous says:

Yes, you can “stack” 1 store coupon with 1 manufacturer coupon as long as neither coupon excludes it and store policy allows it. If you’re referring to Target coupons, which usually say “One coupon per customer”, your scenario could look like this:
              Buy (2) Item X @ 2/$3
Use (2) $1/1 manufacturer coupons (one for each item)
Use (1) $1/1 Target store coupon
Final Price: 2 for FREE! :)

            • Anonymous says:

OMG. I like that word, FREE! :D Thanks. It’s nice to know that :) Anyways, I have a problem/question. I just got back from shopping at Target. Is it ok to use Target Web coupons with a mfr coupon? For example. The Glade Expression Starter Kit. I used one mfr coupon and one target web coupon for one item. She said that both are the same thing and it won’t work. I told her like three times, that one mfr coupon and one store coupon should work for an item, but she keeps telling me the same thing. So I didn’t want to look stupid, so I left it as is. She gave me back the three Target Web coupon that she said won’t work.

            • Anonymous says:

The cashier was wrong. You can use a Target store coupon AND a manufacturer coupon on one item. Next time, don’t be afraid to go to Customer Service and ask them to make it right. Sometimes, cashiers are new and aren’t familiar with how coupons work :)

I really banked this week on Stayfree!! I got coupons off of Ebay and I had 20 manufactured and 20 Target and I did 5 separate transactions and got them absolutely free, also for every transaction I got $5 gift card. Total of $ 25, I was so excited. 20 packages of kotex plus they paid me woo hoo. FYI I don’t need that many but help my family out.

  3. whovier88 says:

went to both of my targets today to do this deal but pm with walgreens price and was told that target will still price match but i wouldn’t get the $5 gift card, has anyone done this deal with the pm and gotten the $5 gift card?

  4. whovier88 says:

i went to both of the targets in my area to double check on their price matching policy and both told me if i were to pm the stayfree pads with walgreens price i wouldn’t get the $5 gift card, did anyone run into this problem? if not is there something i can do to get this deal?

  7. mrsR says:

Does it vary by store? The Target near my house sells it for $3.44

  8. Nycolen says:

If I still have a $2 off from the last time (I haven’t checked to see if its expired yet) and I got the one in Sunday’s paper could I use both of those with just myself or does that still violate the one per customer?

  9. Nats_Mom says:

I am very new to couponing so I am hoping you can answer a question for me regarding multiple coupons. In the first scenario, you say use on $2 off 1. Why can’t you use three? Why do you use two in the second scenario. I am so confused on this topic. Can you explain?

    • Anonymous says:

Hi there, the coupon has a restriction of (1) per person and (4) per transaction. If you’re shopping alone, then you can use only one. But if you are shopping with other people, you could present more than one coupon (give one to your friend/spouse/relative to hand to the Cashier). The second scenario shows a better deal because it includes two coupons. Hope that helps!

  10. Rosemont says:

so i’m new to this coupon thing and boy was it a hunt to find, the stay free pads and dawn dishwashing liquid!!I Finally found the dawn dishwashing liquid, but the pads were completely gone:( (little discouraged) so I learned a lesson get to the store asap!!!!lol

  11. Cheryl says:

Im so frustrated here… All 3 pharmacies are having a huge sale on the Stayfree… and for some reason I didn’t receive a coupon in my SS this week.. Tons of Always coupons though… Ugh.. I would definitely taken a special trip for this deal…

    • Cheryl says:

Oh yeah… Not even a sale at target in my area … Starting to feel like I’ve entered the Twilight Zone !

  12. annabuliga says:

also you can bring a Fred Meyer paper with you and price match, Buy 3,use 3 $2/1 and get $5 GiftCard. Pay Nothing :)

  13. yvette says:

Why didn’t u use the 3 $2.00 coupons in one transaction for a $ 2.00 money maker? You would have paid $3 & gotten $5 gift card back.

    • Anonymous says:

You are right! I showed the scenarios that I thought most people could follow.

      • flower73 says:

I followed your scenario w/ the ‘shopping buddy’ and I buy two newspapers so I had two coupons. That’s good enough for me. Thank you so much for finding the time to share these deals!

  14. Keisha says:

My target does not have that deal… It’s only on the 24 ct or higher

    • Anonymous says:

Hi Keisha, did you scan it at a price scanner? I wonder if your store didn’t post the correct sign. I tend to scan things in case of a store error!

  15. Lisa12 says:

You can also take them to Kroger. They’re on sale for $1.99 here. I’m a cashier there and the register won’t beep or anything. I just got a bunch of them and paid only tax! I guess it counts the tax into the whole price or something. I ask around my neighborhood for extra coupons and have been stocking up on these all week!

  16. rubu says:

You can make $1:33 buy using 2 $2 coupons and $1/1 coupon (http://see.walmart.com/stayfree/?cid=sbo.332.1706) . In return you get $5 gift card. Just got it supper deal.

  17. Jasmine says:

Just wondering if there is a limit to how many times you may receive the gift card? Meaning that I could do this deal more than once? I pass Target every day now that I’m a commuter college student. :) Also, I see some mention price matching. Can you still do that with this deal?

    • Anonymous says:

There isn’t a limit on receiving the gift cards but you would need several newspaper coupons in order to get it at that price.

  18. Almita says:

where is the $2/1 stayfree MFC???

  19. kat says:

where else can i get that coupon? I think i didnt find it on my coupons this weekend :(

  20. mayfz says:

Yesterday, we were watching The Extreme Couponing or something like that and I have 2 questions, maybe you can help me: Where can a couple find or obtain 1,200 coupons for the same product and in wich store you can use them all on one visit!!? I mean, they used those and two hundred and something for pasta and other nonsense quantities on one visit at one store and they were only 2 people!! Everything for FREE ! They didn’t pay even tax !

    • kat says:

well you can go and pick up your neighbors newspapers just like i do :)

That show is not real and gives couponers bad name.

    • Anonymous says:

Yeah… Watch the program for fun only… Don’t learn anything from it… Lol… Because the stores bend their rules and they don’t follow the coupon verbiage… And they found that some of the Qs used there are fraudulent… :-/

    • Qponlovee says:

Def some are fake, but in some states the tax is added after the coupons. So here in Texas if you get your total to zero it will really be zero because there will be no tax :)

    • Fran says:

All reality shows are fake and staged. Each has a budget for props. The show is providing the coupons to the actors. They write scripts, but they don’t have to write characters, because the actors are recruited straight from the field they are covering.

  21. Anna says:

I’m confused …so is it possible to use two of the $2.00/1 in the same transaction with the same barcode…or do they have to be different?

    • Anonymous says:

You can present two coupons for one transaction but you must be with another person because the coupon restricts one coupon per person. Hope that helps!

      • Briezonbye says:

        Would this work?
        Buy 3 Stayfree Pads @ $2.89 = $8.67
        Buy 3 Up & Up Toothbrushes @ $1.25 = $3.75
        Total: $12.42 + tax
        Use: (1) $2/1 Stayfree MQ
Total: $10.42 + tax or $.42 after GC

Can you earn 2 GC in one transaction if they’re for different items?

        • Alyanna says:

First off, the 3 Up&Up Toothbrushes won’t work since your total has to be above $5 before coupons. Try throwing in a Colgate Total Advanced Toothpaste (if that’s included at your Target), and use the $1 Target Coupon (under Beauty) and whatever Colgate coupon you got in the 8/26 SS (could by $.75-$1 off). This will definitely prompt the register for your $5 gift card.

Secondly, yes you can earn multiple gift cards in the same transaction- just make sure you pair the qualifying items for your gift card together so the cashier will be prompted to give you a gift card (the register will not scan if it prompts a gift card, so you can be assured they will give you one).

  22. I’m a newbie, and so very confused. First, what is SS? I found a $1 off coupon and I was able to go to their website for the .50 cent coupon, but firefox wouldn’t let me print it, so when I tried with explorer (had to log back in and re-enter all my info) it wouldn’t allow me to get the coupon bc it said I had already printed it! Frustrating! Does target have a coupon for $2? I’m just so confused! LOL. Help!! thx

    • Couponfreaky says:

Hi Kim, I’m a newbie too, SS is the Smart Source insert from the newspaper, there’s also RP, which is Red Plum;) I got the 2 from newspaper and $1 from online coupon sites… Hope this helps;(

    • Anonymous says:

Kim, there is a really helpful beginner section, just look for the tab up top. It explains so much and helps you learn the lingo and get great savings!

    • Anonymous says:

Hi Kim, there’s a lot to learn so don’t get discouraged! SS is an abbreviation for “Smart Source”, which is a type of newspaper coupon insert. This $2.00/1 is a manufacturer’s coupon. Have you heard of our book “Pick Another Checkout Lane, Honey”? It’s FULL of advice and information on couponing and deal-finding. It would be a great starting point for you!

  23. ashley says:

anybody know how long this sale is for??

  24. Diana says:

At CVS you can get for free, price $2 and MQ make it FREE

    • KendraMarie19 says:

That’s where I got mine too! i’ll skip the .33 moneymaker because I’d rather not pay first and then get the giftcard. Just my opinion though! :)

    • Anonymous says:

my area didn’t get the $2 off man. coupon, just the target $1 so, i used 3 and paid $5.67 and got a $5 gift card. Great deal for me!.

  25. Jessica says:

If you are close to a Fred Meyer, they have these on sale for $2, so Target will price match with a complete ad brought in verifying the price. :o) Then it makes it a huge money maker!

  26. Liz says:

This promotion was for last week, it is not valid anymore. I just called Target.

  27. Annie M says:

Forgive me, I am a newbie, but can someone explain how you use the shopping buddy? doens’t it have to be rung in the same transaction?

    • ashley says:

yes but if you have a shopping buddy it will count towards the limit one per person, so if you have two people one transaction will word

    • Anonymous says:

You can use two coupons in one transaction if you have another person with you. That’s because the coupon has a restriction of (1) coupon per person. Does that help?

      • flower73 says:

Thank you for explaining this. It confused me too. I always thought (1) coupon per person meant (1) coupon per transaction… assuming the (1) person was making the transaction… How do two people make a purchase? lol… I’ll give it a try.

        • Anonymous says:

The “fine print” can be confusing. I’m here to help spread the knowledge so everyone can save as much as possible!

  28. KRM says:

How does having a friend with you help? You have to buy 3 in the same transaction, right? What is your friend supposed to do? Buy an additional 3? I’m confused! :)

    • Anonymous says:

What I mean is, your friend/spouse/relative can present a 2nd coupon. This is so you can save more money. If you are shopping alone, then you can use only 1 coupon, according to the coupon rules.

      • Anonymous says:

Is this general knowledge to the cashiers or is this something I will have to explain? Do I hand her one coupon & my “buddy” hands her another? Sorry I just want to be prepared for when I do something that’s new to me

        • Freckles411 says:

I would just hand them all over to her and if the cashier says anything just inform her that one coupon is for you and one is for your friend (that is with you). No need to confuse the cashier if they push it through anyways.

  29. So if I have me and my 3 boys is that considered following the rules? 1 coupon per person no more than 4 per transaction, LOL!

    • Anonymous says:

Yep… Although some cashiers might give you trouble… That’s when you tell them that your boys are persons, and your 3 boys+you=4 persons… ;) Haven’t tried it because hubby never goes shopping with me but I’ve read that they do that… Lol… :-P

    • Mara @ Super Savings says:

I say yes! If my kids wanted to buy a pack of gum or a toy, they would be considered a customer and the store would take their money with no problem! =) (but, just be prepared for some snarky looks or comments, lol)

      ~ Mara

    • Anonymous says:

Quite honestly, I’ve never had a cashier ever talk to me about that part of the coupon, even when my extras are kids!

  30. allysnina says:

I am really irritated with Target’s new coupon “policy”…….now you can only use ONE of the “Target” coupons per visit. If this is going to be the case then why are they allowing us to print 2????

    • Paola says:

I think it depends on which cashier and which location you go to. One Target nearby my home ALWAYS gives me problems with using ANY type of coupon. And they are just plain rude. Luckily there’s another Target just a few minutes away which is MUCH better about accepting coupons and has better customer service. Hopefully you have another Target you can go to!

    • eumageu says:

While their policy stats that, and even the coupons say it, I have never had a problem using 2 at a time at any of my 4 local Targets (metro Detroit area). That being said, I am prepared that if someday they refuse to take 2, I understand and will just apologize.

      • sweetgoofygirl says:

Im not sure what part of the metro Detroit area you are from, but im in the downriver area. I go to the Target in Woodhaven at West and Allen. I have nothing but problems there. Depends on who rings you up on what the coupon policy is and a manager told me the other day that that was ok that they are like that. Good thing one of my CVS cashiers works there and now I just make sure I hit her line and no problems. Other then that I have problems anymore. I can go 2 days straight and have the same iteas and coupons and not be able to use them one day, but did the day before. Frustrating.

        • Anonymous says:

OMG I am soo glad to see your post I am from the same area and shop there all the time and at the one in Taylor!

          • sweetgoofygirl says:

I have not been into the Taylor one in a few years. Been thinking about going down there to see if its any better. I just hate the traffic on Eureka RD so I try to stay away from that area. Think I might try the Stayfree deal there this week and the Woodhaven one. Hope its not the same BS.

      • Anonymous says:

I have been using up to 4 target coupons in one transaction by myself. I just got told by a cashier that they are starting to crack down., So this may be the reason. Usually I only used 2 in one transaction but guess I’m gonna have to start following the rules. Probably depends on the cashier too.

    • Anonymous says:

They allow you to print 2 because you could use them in separate transactions.

  31. rgoossen says:

This is a regional coupon, didn’t get it upstate NY.

  32. maggie says:

Same question about price matching but ffl, they have them on sale for 1.98, would we get the $5 gift card???

  33. Anonymous says:

I was so excited about this and in Illinois we only got $1 off target coupon instead of $2 off any store wahhhhhhhhh

  34. pat says:

I agree what does the transcation mean, “one coupon per person, limit four coupons per transaction” ?

    • Paola says:

It means you use up to 4 coupons in one transaction if you have 4 people present (1 coupon per person). Soooo stupid if you ask me. But in my previous shopping trips I haven’t had any trouble using 4 coupons on my own. It really depends on if the cashier will take them or not.

      • Nmendi says:

I’m confused as well with one per person coupon, it doesn’t have to be separate transactions then? To be able to use the MQ $2 off.

        • Anonymous says:

No separate transactions as long as you have people with you at the moment of the transaction, you can use up to 4 in one transacation (you + 3 people with you)… ;)

    • barb1222 says:

You can use 4 different stayfree coupons in one transaction, but only one $2 off coupon. If you have a friend with you, then you can use 2 $2 off coupons in a transaction.

  35. Michelle Yang says:

There is also a $1/1 Target store q in the same insert. I stacked them and got a great deal!

  36. glori486 says:

Does the $5 dollar gift card get applied to the same transaction or it is to be used in another transaction?

    • Paola says:

The $5 gift card is for a future transaction, not the same transaction.

    • Liz says:

You won’t need the $5 card for your transaction because you won’t even have to pay a dime. Not even tax

      • Anonymous says:

Depends on where you live. Here in CA, we pay tax on the pre-coupon total :( So only food is ever really “free” after coupons.

  37. crandallcandy says:

kcl are we aloud to price match these from cvs for $2 each and then use three $2/1 mfc as long as we have three people and get back the $5 gc, making it a $5 mm. Or is this not aloud according to their policy

    • dani says:

Targets coupon policy will not accept CVS’s ad as it states you need a club card to get the price. HTH :)

      • KIM says:

cant we price match walgreens then? theres no club card there and they are on the ad for 1.99 only! if we bought 3, would we get the $5 gift card?

        • Paola says:

Yes, Walgreens’ ad would work. But any other ad that has an advertised price “With card” won’t be accepted. I’m definitely going to stock up on these at Target! :)

    • dani says:

Target will ot accept CVS’s ad as it states that you need a club card to get the price. HTH :)

      • Anonymous says:

Not true. Mine does it all the time. It is not a club everyone has one.

        • dani says:

Just saying, be prepared! You can try to, but the policy clearly states in the “Other Price Matching Exclusions” part, that they will not accept “Membership club or Loyalty programs (e.g. prices that require a club or loyalty card).” Good luck :)

        • Freckles411 says:

Mine matches CVS. They won’t give you the price after EB, but they do price match them

I see the 1 per person fine print but couldnt you also use 3 of the coupons and get an even better deal? I usually shop with my two kids and they are technically a person.

  40. fudge says:

I am confused, not being negative but why is the fine print contradicting each other?

    • I agree it makes no sense at all!

    • Paola says:

Usually the cashier I go to let’s me use multiple coupons in one transaction if the wording is weird like that. Not everybody can take another person (or two or three) shopping with them.

      • Anonymous says:

I agree that this happens a lot. However, KCL is just trying to keep it honest. Following the wording is important, but even more important when you are posting deals for others. The coupons are 1 per person, that is why she suggests the loophole of additional persons on the trip. Using more than one is not technically allowed, even if the cashier “lets you do it”.
