Price matching
We’re committed to providing low prices every day. On everything. So if you find a lower advertised price on an identical product, tell us and we’ll match it. Right at the register.
Our Ad Match Guarantee:
We gladly match the price in the following types of ads:*
- Buy one, get one free ads with a specified price
- Example: Buy one for $2.49, get one free (BOGO)
- Competitors’ ads that feature a specific item for a specified price.
- Preferred shopping card prices for specific items that are in a printed ad.
- For fresh produce and meat items when the price is offered in the same unit type (lb. for lb.; each for each)
*The following are guidelines and limitations:
- We will match any local competitor’s advertised price.
- We do not require customers to have the ad with them to honor a competitor’s ad.
- Items purchased must be identical to the ad (size, quantity, brand, flavor, color, etc.)
We DO NOT match the price in the following types of competitor ads:
- Items that require a separate purchase to get the ad price
- example: “Buy [item A] to get [item B] for $C”
- Items with no actual price that require a purchase to get free product
- example: “Buy both [items A & B] to get [item C] for free”
- Items that require a purchase to get a competitors’ gift card
- example: “Buy [item A] to get a $B gift card
- Buy one, get one free (BOGO) ads with no actual price given

- Misprinted ad prices of other retailers
- “Going out of business” sales or “close out” prices

Walmart accepts manufacturer coupons from the Sunday coupon inserts as well as printable manufacturer coupons. In order to be in compliance with policy, coupons must read “manufacturer coupon” across the top, have an expiration date, and a scannable barcode.
Walmart will accept current competitor coupons that specify a price for a specific item. Walmart will not accept a competitor coupon for cents/dollars off or a percentage off. Ask your local store for a list of those whom they consider local competitors (it varies by region). Walmart only accepts one coupon per item, so you cannot stack a competitor’s store coupon with a manufacturer coupon; just use one or the other.
While Walmart does not have Catalina machines at their stores, they will accept Catalinas/Checkout Coupons printed from other store locations. They must be manufacturer coupons for a specific price off a specific item. They will not accept drugstore rewards or Catalinas that are for a dollar amount off the shopping trip total.
Price Matching: Walmart will price match a current competitor’s ad price right at the register. Let your cashier know that you will be price matching before they ring an item up since the price will need to be entered manually. Walmart will price match from a competitor ad when there is a specific item and price listed. They will also price match a BOGO only if there is a specific price. (For example, Buy 1 at $4.00, Get 1 Free.) They will not price match for a “gimmick” sale, such as spend $25, Save $5 Instantly; nor will they match a price based on a rain check. Best part? You don’t even need the ad with you; just let the cashier know which store, and Walmart will provide the ad!
