The 4th of July just is not complete without a couple of boxes of sparklers! The sound of them, the sight of their glow, even the smell add up to a wonderful holiday! Still, each year there are children who suffer burns while handling sparklers. Would you believe that a container of Play Doh is all you need to make this a safer 4th of July for you and your family?

All you need is a container of Play Doh (my dollar store sells two packs for $1.00) and your sparklers. Simply push the handle end of the sparkler into the soft dough (still in the container). Light the sparkler and allow children to hold the container. Since it is wider and heavier it is easier for them to grasp and keep control of, and the dough will keep the sparkler stick securely in place. No burns!

This tip works so well, the adults might want their own Play Doh container too!

Have a safe and happy 4th of July!

What a neat idea. I’d be a little afraid of the solo cup in fear of the sparklers sparks melting the cup.

also, poke a hole in a red solo cup. Put sparkler in from outside/in. small hands can hold from inside cup
