What is Amazon Subscribe & Save? It’s a discount of up to 20% when a customer signs up for automatic reordering. These items will be auto-shipped to you as often as every month, or as infrequently as every six months. Your initial order will receive a discount of 5%. When you subscribe to five or more items, you’ll receive the higher discount on future orders.

No membership is required. Amazon Prime members get free shipping, and orders of $25 or more are shipped free for everyone else.

Amazon Subscribe & Save Filler Items

If you’re really looking to maximize your savings with Amazon Subscribe & Save – and I can’t stress this enough – always make sure you have at least five items in your subscription. Why? Amazon will take 15% off your entire order if a subscription shipment has a minimum of five items. You’ll only save 5% if you subscribe to four items or less.

But what if you don’t have enough items to subscribe to this month to receive the 15% savings? You have two options:

1. You can choose to skip your order and wait to ship your subscription until you’ve found five crazy Amazon deals. Don’t worry – the coupons and sale prices will still apply to your first subscription even when you skip an order.
2. Or you can add filler items. Filler items are cheap products that you can add to your subscription to get to five products in your order. Often, the 15% savings will be greater than the cost of adding these cheap filler items to your subscription.

There’s no obligation to continue your subscription, so you can skip or cancel it immediately after your order ships.
