If you’re a Boohoo customer, you might have money coming your way.

The UK-based fashion retailer got sued for allegedly misleading price and savings info. Now they’ve settled the suit, and customers are getting a payout. So, how much is the final settlement, and what are the details of the lawsuit? We have the answers.

Why was Boohoo sued?

According to the class-action lawsuit, the Boohoo Group online stores promised 50 – 70% off sales, but customers alleged that the regular prices listed on the website were bogus.

For example, a Boohoo dress listed with a $10 regular price and a $5 sale price looks like a good deal, but the item had never previously been listed at that $10 price point — and thus was never on sale.

How much money will Boohoo customers get?

As part of the settlement, Boohoo agreed to pay customers $22.4 million. That’s a lot less than some analysts expected; some projections initially were more than $100 million in damages.

While specifics haven’t been released regarding who’s getting paid, if you ordered from Boohoo in the last 4-5 years, you’re probably part of the settlement class.

Which Boohoo stores are affected by the lawsuit?

The three Boohoo Group retail brands — Boohoo, Nasty Gal, and PrettyLittleThing — are all included in the lawsuit and settlement.

Boohoo’s other brands — boohooMAN, MissPap, Karen Millen and coast — aren’t part of these proceedings.

When will Boohoo pay out the settlement money?

The short answer? We don’t know. While Boohoo has agreed to the $22.4 million payout, the courts still have to approve the terms of the settlement.

In the case of the similar Old Navy class action settlement, it took about three months from the time the courts issued their preliminary approval to when customers could file their individual claims.
