Get your taste buds ready — AMC popcorn is coming to Walmart on March 11, 2023!

The taste of movie theater popcorn is hard to replicate at home. I’ve been wishing for an in-store option that’s just as good as the theaters for some time now. And recently, my wildest dreams came true.

On Feb. 28, AMC announced their new eat-at-home popcorn will be available at Walmart just before the 2023 Academy Awards, which airs on March 12. You’ll find the new AMC popcorn varieties at hundreds of store locations immediately after the release. But a month or so after that, over 2,600 Walmart locations will have the new popcorn on their shelves, which is the best news I’ve heard all week.

If you’re just as excited as I am, hear me out for all the details we know so far:

Walmart will carry three AMC popcorn flavors in both microwavable bags and already-popped bags.

Starting March 11, AMC is releasing three at-home popcorn flavors: Classic Butter, Extra Butter, and Lightly Salted. You’ll have the choice between a 4.2 – 5.2 oz bag of ready-to-eat popcorn in these flavors, or a six-count pack of microwavable bags in the same flavors. The microwavable bags will come with individual packets of buttery topping, so you can truly get the whole theater experience from home.

AMC popcorn at Walmart will cost less than it does at the movie theaters.

Even better news: AMC’s popcorn in stores will be cheaper than AMC’s movie theater popcorn.

Right now at AMC Theatres, you’ll pay $9.29 for a regular bag of popcorn and $10.29 for a large bag of popcorn.

The bags of ready-to-eat AMC popcorn will cost $3.98 each, and a six-count pack of microwavable bags will cost $4.98. So basically, you’ll be able to take home the taste of movie theater popcorn for under $5 a pop.

By the end of April, you’ll find AMC popcorn at 2,600 stores and on Walmart.com.

These AMC popcorn varieties will start out at hundreds of Walmart stores, but they’ll continue to expand to over 2,600 locations in the following month.

Even better, you’ll be able to buy both microwavable and ready-to-eat bags of AMC popcorn on Walmart.com, this April, too!

AMC is partnering exclusively with Walmart, but they may expand their popcorn to more stores later on.

Walmart will start off with an edge over other stores. Why? Because AMC popcorn is launching only at Walmart. But the expansion may not end there.

According to the press release, AMC hopes to explore “broader distribution channels” for its new line of eat-at-home movie theater popcorn. So, here’s to hoping these tasty new flavors “pop up” in more places than one (pun definitely intended).
