Travel Tuesday and Black Friday Flight Deals: Southwest Winter Sale From $69

Travel Tuesday happens the day after Cyber Monday and, tbh, it’s really just a catchy name for Black Friday flight deals and other winter travel sales. Airlines, hotels, and even vacation rental sites offer up discounts for Black Friday through Cyber Monday and on Travel Tuesday. 

The deals aren’t truly jaw dropping, but they're worth checking if you have travel plans in early 2025. You’ll typically see one-way fares under $100, bonus point offers, or vacation package discounts in these sales. 

So is Travel Tuesday the cheapest day to book flights for the upcoming year? It very well could be. Winter does tend to be a slow time for travel, so fares are typically lower for many destinations — add in bonus points or discounted packages, and you’ve got yourself a pretty good deal. Bonus Tip: Plan travel Sunday to Thursday to avoid weekend fares and get the lowest-of-the-low prices.

Travel Tuesday is a once-a-year event where companies offer some of the year’s best travel deals.

Travel Tuesday capitalizes on Black Friday and Cyber Monday shopping momentum with some of the biggest travel deals of the year. These deals include flights starting at $29, discounted hotel stays, vacation packages, and reduced-price cruises.

While it’s called “Travel Tuesday,” we’ve seen some Travel Tuesday deals start out as Black Friday flight deals and last all week — with many taking place on Cyber Monday.

Travel Tuesday takes place on Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2024.

Travel Tuesday is always the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, aka the Tuesday after Black Friday, aka the day after Cyber Monday. In 2024, Thanksgiving takes place on Thursday, Nov. 28, setting up Travel Tuesday for Tuesday, Dec. 3.

Southwest Winter Sale — Fares Start at $69

The Southwest winter sale offers discounted fares through Nov. 18, 2024, with one-way tickets starting at just $69. The sale includes travel dates from Dec. 3, 2024, through March 5, 2025, for select domestic and international routes. Flights must be booked at least 21 days before travel date and there are some blackout dates and destinations. We’ll likely see some Black Friday flight deals from Southwest later this month.
