Amazon Black Friday: Here's What to Know for 2024 (We Predict a Nov. 22 Start Date)

Amazon’s Black Friday sale will take place in just over two months from now. Last year, it started at midnight PT on Friday, Nov. 17, and ended at midnight PT on Friday, Nov. 24, offering shoppers a full week of Black Friday deals.

So what does this mean for Black Friday, 2024? We've got all the details below based on what we saw last year, including when we expect the sale to start (Nov. 22) and hot deals to watch for, like some of our past favorites: 80% off toys, 55% off Shark, and up to 70% off Amazon devices, $5 car vacuum, $80 Apple AirTags (4-pack), and $6 LePro AAA batteries.

Amazon Black Friday Is a Week-long Event That Offers Best-of-the-Year Deals on Tech, Toys, Fashion, More

Amazon's Black Friday sale is known for offering some of the lowest prices of the year on a wide variety of tech (TVs, smartwatches), toys, beauty products, clothing, home goods, and more. Of course, Amazon reserves some of its biggest price drops for its own products, so keep an eye out for Echo and Kindle deals.

Unlike Amazon's other big sales (Prime Day in July and Prime Big Deal Days in October), its Black Friday sale is not just for Prime members. Others can shop it, too.

KCL predicts the next Amazon Black Friday will begin Friday, Nov. 22, 2024.

Amazon hasn’t officially announced the next date for their Black Friday sale, but based on what they've done in recent years, we here at KCL predict that it’ll take place between Friday, Nov. 22, and Friday, Nov. 29, 2024. 

How do we make our prediction?

For the last several years, Amazon Black Friday has been a Friday-to-Friday sale — starting the Friday before Thanksgiving, running through Black Friday (the day after Thanksgiving). In 2024, the Friday before Thanksgiving is Nov. 22, and Black Friday is the 29th — which is where we got our predicted dates.

Amazon never has their own official Black Friday ad, so in 2023, we made our own based on Amazon’s official Black Friday announcement and press release.

When does Amazon Black Friday usually start?

It’s pretty standard for retailers to extend Black Friday into the week before. For the past couple of years, though, Amazon kept its Black Friday sale to about 48 hours, with deals starting the Thursday (Thanksgiving).

But in 2023, deals were available for an entire week. You could shop the sale starting at 12 a.m. PT on Friday, Nov, 17 until 11:59 p.m. PST at the end of the day on Black Friday, Nov. 24.

As for Cyber Monday 2023, official deals started at 12:00 a.m. PT after Black Friday and ran until 11:59 p.m. ET on Monday, Nov. 27. That means shoppers could find Cyber Weekend deals for 72 hours. Amazon has been doing this for a couple of years now.

Here is a summary highlight of deals you could shop in 2023, which Amazon originally teased in their press release on. Nov. 5.

While we wait for Amazon to announce its Black Friday deals, here are some of the best ones we saw last year:

• Save up to 33% on select Le Creuset Dutch ovens and cookware

• Save up to 30% on select Barbie dolls and playsets, and on select LEGO sets and building toys from Magna-Tiles

• Save up to 30% on select Disney, Marvel, and Star Wars toys, apparel, bedding, and décor

• Save up to 30% on select Dyson vacuums and air purifiers (November 22-27)

• Save up to 29% on select Kindle e-readers including Kindle Scribe, Kindle Paperwhite, Kindle Paperwhite for Kids, and Kindle (2022)

Amazon Black Friday Gift Card Deals

Black Friday through Cyber Monday, Amazon customers usually can save on gift cards with Lightning Deals and promotional credit offers from top brands and restaurants. Last year, we saw 20% off or up to $15 in Amazon promotional credit for those who bought gift cards from retailers like Bath & Body Works and Victoria Secret or from food joints like Cold Stone Creamery or Domino’s. Several of these deals came in the form of Lightning Deals, starting just a few days before Black Friday. But the vast majority of deals came on Black Friday.

Food Delivery Deals

Be it Amazon Prime Day or Black Friday, Amazon will almost always offer a special deal with Grubhub during bigger sale events.

In past sales, shoppers could get $10 off a GrubHub order over $25. In 2023, you could save 20% on orders $20 and up with a special code. Prime members get free Grubhub+ membership, so sign up before Black Friday to take full advantage of free delivery on top of any deals Amazon offers.

Deals On Household Essentials

Thanksgiving through Cyber Monday last year, Prime members could save 25% when they spent $50 on select everyday essentials from Amazon brands’ Stock Up & Save program. And this deal started early. So start checking Amazon in the days leading up to Black Friday. Last year we spotted this deal: save 20% when you spend $50 on select items.

Tips to Save More During Amazon Black Friday:

• Look for discounts and promo credit offers for Amazon's own services and subscriptions. For example, last year we saw an offer for "Spend $50 and save $10 on your first order from Prime Try Before You Buy."

• Keep an eye on Lightning Deals, which are short-lived deals with big discounts. Prime members get access to Lightning Deals 30 minutes before everyone else. If you're a Prime member, hit the "Prime Early Access" box on the Daily Deals page to shop early.

• Keep in mind: Amazon doesn’t offer price matching or honor price adjustment requests.

• Remember that Amazon usually has an extended holiday return policy. That means you can take advantage of Black Friday deals and know you'll have extra time to return any products that don't work out. Last year, shoppers could return most items purchased between Nov. 1, 2023, and Dec. 31, 2023, through Jan. 31.
