It’s been a big year for Marvel Studios, and the superhero movie powerhouse is closing out 2022 with a Disney Plus special presentation: The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. If you’re trying to watch The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special for free, you’ve come to the right place.
Disney Plus is going to be the only game in town to watch this show, but that doesn’t mean you have to pay a bunch of money to get a glimpse of Chris Pratt & Co. From seasonal discounts to special subscriber perks to VPN tweaks, there are opportunities to pay nothing (or next to nothing) to watch the holiday special.
Verizon subscribers can watch the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special for free.
The only place to find The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is on the Disney Plus streaming service, which costs $7.99 a month (or $79.99 a year). But … if you have a Verizon account (or know someone who does), Verizon’s Unlimited plans include a free Disney Plus subscription — whose streaming library includes the new Guardians special.
Verizon customers with the Get More Unlimited and Play More Unlimited plans are also eligible for the Disney Bundle, which includes not just a free Disney Plus subscription — as a bonus, you’ll also get Hulu and ESPN Plus.
US Mobile customers also get free access to watch The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special.
Verizon subscribers aren’t the only people who can get a free Disney Plus account. US Mobile offers the free perk also. If you sign up for at least three Unlimited lines, you can get access to a Disney Plus, Hulu, and ESPN Plus bundle.
They also offer a 10-day trial for their Unlimited phone plan, so you can get the Disney Plus perk for 10 days and cancel the phone plan trial if you don’t want to continue.
(But if you don’t want the Disney Plus bundle, you can also opt for Apple TV Plus, Netflix, or HBO Max.)
Get Disney Plus as part of the Hulu Black Friday offer for only $5/month.
Starting on the day The Guardians Holiday Special comes out — Black Friday, Nov. 25 — you can lock in Hulu for $1.99/month for 12 months as part of the Hulu Black Friday offer. And then you can add on Disney Plus for an extra $2.99/month. So for less than $5/month, you can get Hulu and Disney Plus for a whole year.

- Visit this page to sign up for Hulu — you’ll pay $1.99 per month for your first 12 months.
- Once you’ve signed up, scroll down until you see “Partner Add-Ons.”
- There you’ll find the option to sign up for Disney+ for just $2.99 per month.
- Click the “+” sign to add Disney+ and then submit the changes.
You’ll be charged a total of $4.98 per month for Hulu ($1.99/month) and Disney+ ($2.99/month). That’s a combined savings of $168 in a 12-month period.
Change your location to take advantage of Disney Plus free trials in other countries.
Disney got rid of the U.S. free trial in June 2020, but as they roll out in new countries, like the Philippines and Vietnam, those places will most likely get a free trial. In late 2022, when you get NordVPN and switch your location to the Philippines or Vietnam, you’ll be able to get those countries’ Disney Plus free trials on the Disney Plus website.

Is The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special on Netflix or Hulu?
If you’re trying to skip the whole Disney Plus thing, you might try to find The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special on Hulu or Netflix. Sadly, you won’t find it on those platforms. And since The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is a Disney Plus exclusive, it’ll probably always be exclusively part of that platform.
How can you watch The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special?
Guess what, Marvel fans? Not only will you watch the countless holiday movies like The Santa Clause, the Lego Star Wars Holiday Special, and Home Alone, but the The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special will debut as the lead-in to The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Watch party, anyone?
On Black Friday, Nov. 25, 2022 at midnight PT, The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special will drop exclusively on Disney Plus, featuring the Guardians we’ve all grown to love. Star-Lord, Drax, Rocket, Groot and Mantis will all be on hand (plus special guest Kevin Bacon as himself).
