Lego occasionally holds in-store activities for kids called Lego Build or Lego Make and Take events. Kids get a free Lego set (that isn't available to the public) to build at Lego stores or Barnes & Noble locations, which they can take home.
Here's everything you need to know about this weekend's in-store Lego Build event.
What exactly is a Lego Build or Make and Take event anyway?
Lego Build or Make and Take It events are in-store opportunities for kids to receive free promotional Lego kits that they can build in a group setting. These events typically run about two hours, but you don’t need to stay that long. Contact your nearby Lego store to see if they're taking part of this weekend's event.
The next in-store Lego Build event will happen on Monday, Aug. 4 (5 - 7 p.m. local) at Lego stores.
Lego stores run free Lego Build events occasionally, although there’s no real rhyme or reason to when these are scheduled. The next Lego Build event will be the free Gum Gum Fruit on Monday, Aug. 4 (5 - 7 p.m. local).

Lego Build in-store events are offered on a first-come, first serve basis, so get there early.
Because these events are so popular, they're offered on a first-come, first-serve basis. That means you'll need to show up early if you want a chance for your kid(s) to participate. You'll need to contact your local store to confirm event details.
Is there an age limit for a Lego Build event?
No, there’s no age limit for these events. However, Lego notes the age group for which the models are best suited. For example, the upcoming Spring Flower event has a recommended age group of 6 and older.
Some Lego Build events take place at select Barnes & Noble locations.
Lego stores aren't the only place you'll find Lego Make and Take events. You'll find some build events at Barnes & Noble locations.
To find out if your local store is participating, click on the Stores & Events tab at the top left of the Barnes & Noble homepage. From there you can search by zip code, store name, or event name to see if any of the locations near you are participating, as well as the date and time of their particular event.
Lego Build events at Barnes & Noble require you to sign up in advance.
Unlike Lego store events that are offered on a first-come, first-serve basis you'll need to sign up for a spot for the B&N Lego Build event.
We can't stress enough how popular anything involving free Legos is, so it’s imperative you sign up for your local event in advance. Some Barnes & Noble locations allow you to call them to secure a spot. Others require you visit in-store ahead of the event to sign up. Whichever method works best at your location, sign up as early as possible. Only one Lego kit is provided per child registered.
