Our Top 13 Picks for the Best Place to Buy a Refrigerator

1. Best Buy

When it comes to buying appliances and high-ticket tech, it’s hard to beat Best Buy. They’ve got an incredible selection of refrigerators of various styles and types, including French doors, side-by-side, 4-doors, top freezers, bottom freezers, and counter-depth refrigerators.

Let’s talk logistics. Delivery can be as quick as three days on certain models, and it’s free as long as the fridge is more than $399 (or you can pick it up yourself). For an extra fee (about $30), they’ll install it for you, too. If you’re a card member, you can get 12-, 18-, or 24-month financing so that you don’t have to pay everything up front.

If you want even bigger deals, don’t forget to check their outlet.

2. Amazon

You had to see this coming. The marketplace giant is a good place to buy just about anything, and that includes refrigerators. They make it easy to find what you want through filters, including configuration, brand, special features, and dimensions.

Amazon usually offers the best deals, so if you find a fridge on another site, it’s worth trying to track it down on Amazon to see if you can save a few bucks. Payments are flexible, with options to pay in one installment or monthly via Amazon themself or Affirm, which is another way to break up the purchase (with no hidden fees). Note that there’s a quick eligibility check for Affirm, but it doesn’t impact your credit score.

Amazon gives you more than enough time to return your refrigerator should you change your mind. You may also be able to get free product support for up to 90 days.

3. Lowe’s

If you want a nice refrigerator for under $1,000, Lowe’s is your go-to. They have appliances for all budgets, tastes, and living environments. They offer free delivery and curbside pickup, and they give massive savings if you bundle your purchase with other eligible items.

If it doesn’t work out, returns are easy and free (as long as it’s unused). Lowe’s protection plans are also pretty generous and might be worth the investment.

Note that they’ll hook up your new fridge but for an extra fee which isn’t specified on their website, as it varies by location. If you’re a Lowe’s Pro member, they’ll haul your old fridge away for free.

4. Costco

It’s where you normally go to buy a 500-pack of toilet paper, but unbeknownst to many, Costco is also one of the best places to buy a refrigerator. They have a wealth of options, and delivery, installation, hauling away your old fridge, and a 2-year warranty are included, plus up to 4% in rewards. Make a note of whether your old fridge needs to be uninstalled first because Costco needs to do this prior to the arrival of your new appliance.

Some items offer same-day delivery, but do check the individual product page to see if that’s the case for the fridge you’re considering. They accept returns up to 90 days after you’ve received your purchase.

5. Wayfair

Some of Wayfair’s appliances have thousands of reviews, so you know this is one of the best places to buy a refrigerator. They’re usually offering discounts on at least some of their products, and with a Wayfair credit card, you can break your purchase down into monthly payments.

Shipping is free, and you can also request that they haul away your old appliance and install the new one. If you have questions before you check out, they make it easy to speak with an appliance expert.

For even more savings, bundle it with related items, like a dishwasher or a microwave.

They can install it and also haul away your old appliance (for an additional fee), plus Home Depot will match prices with any online competitor. You can get their protection plan, which guarantees 24/7 support and 3-day service.

10. Appliances Connection

Free shipping, extra rebates, and money saved on bundles? Yes, please. Appliances Connection does refrigerators right. They offer generous discounts and will even match and beat any competitor’s price. Financing is available, too.

Note, though, that if you want any “extras” (a service plan, installation, or haul-away), you’ll likely have to pay for them. On the flip side, you can earn rewards.

11. P.C. Richard & Son

Want something freezerless? Check. A side-by-side? Check. French doors, under-the-counter, or a fridge with a TV? Check, check, and check. P.C. Richard & Son has it all. A quick peek tells us that you can often find discounts of 25% and up. Plus, they offer a low-price guarantee that applies up to 30 days after you’ve made your purchase.

Bundle it with other appliances and you might be able to save up to $800 on your total purchase. Rebates are also available on select products. Similar to some of their competitors, you can buy now and pay later with Affirm.

12. Sears

No one does major appliances like Sears, and their selection of refrigerators is what dreams are made of. You can save 10% and up on purchases and even make interest-free payments through Zip (eligible on products up to $2,000). Additionally, some fridges have special offers — like this one, where you can apply for a Mastercard and get money back.

What we love about Sears is that you can shop on a budget and still get a shiny, sleek new appliance. They never skimp on quality. Don’t forget to join their mailing list — you can get $35 off purchases of $300 or more when you shop online.

13. Menards

Menards will deliver your new refrigerator, install it, and haul away your old one. You can find deep discounts on eligible items and sign up for their mailing list for further bonuses. You should also keep tabs on their Weekly Ad in case there are any other promotions running.

Just be sure you read the product description carefully; some refrigerators aren’t available for online purchase. In those cases, you’ll have to go to one of their locations.
