Top Items You Should Always Get for Free With Coupons

When it comes to couponing, your goal should always be getting free stuff. Nowadays, seeing the register show $0.00 isn’t as frequent as when I first learned how to coupon. But that doesn’t mean we can’t still find free items or at least know how to get free stuff using coupons.

Certain items (like toothpaste) can always be free with coupons. You can even make money on some deals (we call this a moneymaker). Some deals come around more often than others. But, when I can get something for free, I stock up. It will hold me over until the next freebie.

It’s easy to learn how to coupon, and you’ll enjoy the peace of mind a stockpile of food and necessities provides. If you’re looking to exclusively score the freebies, we make that easy for you. Bookmark the freebie deals page on KCL, and download the KCL app to be notified as soon as there’s a hot freebie deal.

1. Get free toothpaste at drugstores.

Do. Not. Pay. For. Toothpaste. EVER.

We can’t emphasize this enough. There are always CVS deals and Walgreens deals for free toothpaste using coupons. You can count on getting brands like Colgate and Crest for free. Sometimes, you’ll even get a money-making deal on toothpaste.

Here's an example at CVS: Colgate toothpaste is on sale for $3.99 each. When you purchase two, you’ll earn $4 in ExtraBucks. Plus, you can use a $2/$6 Colgate purchase CVS store coupon and $3/2 Colgate toothpaste CVS coupon. You’ll pay $2.98 and receive $4 in ExtraBucks — so really you’re getting two for free and making a little bit of money!

2. Don’t forget the free toothbrushes and mouthwash at drugstores, too.

While you’re getting free toothpaste, be sure to get free mouthwash, too. You'll often find free toothbrushes and mouthwash at Walgreens and CVS. Even better, normally when drugstores have free toothbrush deals going on, toothpaste and mouthwash deals are happening at the same time!

I was able to score this deal when Colgate mouthwash and toothbrushes were on sale for $4.49 at CVS. When you purchased two, you received $5 in ExtraBucks. You could also use a $2/1 Colgate toothbrush CVS store coupon and a $2/1 Colgate mouthwash CVS coupon. So you paid $4.98 and got back $5 in ExtraBucks.

3. Stack coupons and rebates for free sweetener.

Sweeteners like Splenda and Equal are often free at Walmart when you stack a manufacturer coupon with a cash-back rebate.

I see the best deals at grocery stores or at Walmart. Most of the time, the sweetener may not be on sale, but when you pair a coupon with a rebate, you’ll get it for free. And these aren’t small or travel-size packages. At one point, I had 10 packs of 100-count boxes of Splenda!

Keep an eye out for new products, like the Splenda Peel & Pours. We often see rebate offers to get you to try the new products.

4. Get free bananas with cash-back app rebates.

Did you know you can get a single banana for free at stores like Target and Walmart when you use rebate apps? It’s true. Rebate apps like Ibotta and Checkout 51 will often offer an “any fruit” rebate for $0.25. Most single bananas by weight will be under $0.25 per pound, so free banana for you.

5. Free makeup with coupons is the best makeup.

Hit up drugstores for free makeup deals for mascara, makeup remover, eyeliner, and eyeshadow. CVS, in particular, is a gold mine. Most free makeup deals will involve a coupon and drugstore rewards promotion.

6. Stay clean with free Neutrogena products.

Neutrogena and Aveeno products don’t always have to cost you money. In fact, you can count on getting free skin care items frequently from CVS, Walmart, or Target. Many times, they’re free when you combine easy rebates from Ibotta with CVS ExtraBucks or CVS digital coupons.

7. Stay fresh with free deodorant.

If you’re looking for free deodorant deals, you’ll find them mainly at drugstores like CVS and Walgreens. Occasionally, you’ll find them at the grocery stores like Meijer and Kroger.

We see Speed Stick, Sure, Brut, and Ban deals most often. Deals at drugstores are typically super easy — just buy the product and get the same amount back in Walgreens Cash or CVS ExtraBucks.

8. Free candy is always sweeter.

At one point or another, you’ll be able to find free candy at any store. Between Ibotta deals and drugstore promotions, you’re covered! It’s normally a free candy bar or small bag, but every once in a while, CVS will offer a free full bag of candy with a digital coupon. You’ll see deals on chocolate — like M&M’s, Snickers, or Hershey’s — and on gummies like Trolli gummy worms.

9. Enjoy free food with restaurant apps.

With the rising cost of food, eating out can feel like an out-of-reach luxury. But many of the restaurant apps offer tons of incentives for downloading their app or joining their rewards program. The amount of food deals near me is insane. My family jokes that we can eat out for less than going to the grocery store. Plus, you can get over 100 freebies and discounts for your birthday!

10. Count on free Air Wick warmers.

With Ibotta cash back rebates and digital store coupons, you can easily snag a free Air Wick warmer every three months. Typically priced around $4, these warmers are available through deals at popular retailers like Dollar General, Walmart, Target, and Walgreens. Although we don’t see the refills for free, there are often coupons for those, too.

11. Get free photos from the drugstores.

You should never pay for a 5″x7″ or 8″x10″ photo print. Walgreens photo coupons for these photo sizes pop up at least six times per year. CVS photo coupons aren’t as common, but they still provide chances to snag these prints for free at least four times a year.
