Yep, “smart” gal Alexa has her own birthday. She celebrates another rotation around the sun every year on Nov. 6, and in 2024 she turned 10.
Alexa is also known for celebrating by offering deals on Echo products, and we saw up to 55% off during her party in 2024.

Alexa has been around since 2014.
Amazon introduced Alexa on Nov. 6, 2014 (hence her birthday). According to Amazon’s website, Alexa only knew how to do 13 tasks when she debuted. Now? She has more than 100,000 skills all meant to make your day a little easier (or funnier — just ask her to tell you a joke).
When is the best time to buy Alexa devices on Amazon?
As you’ll see from the deals above, Alexa’s birthday is an excellent time to get a great price on these devices. However, there are other times of the year when you’ll find equally good (or better) deals.
Prime Day (Amazon’s July shopping event), Prime Big Deal Days (Amazon’s October event), and Black Friday each offer stellar prices on a variety of different Alexa products.
So should you wait for Black Friday? Maybe. The 2024 crop of Alexa bday deals didn't quite beat the last Black Friday on a few products. On the Echo Dot, for example, we saw an Alexa bday price of about $5 higher than we saw the previous Black Friday. And the price of the Echo Show 5 for Alexa's bday was about $10 higher than the previous Black Friday. However the Echo Pop price of $17.99 matches the Black Friday price from last year, and the Alexa bday discount on the Echo Show 8 (a newer version of this smart screen) is the second lowest we've ever seen since Prime Day. Our verdict: if you're not in a hurry, consider waiting for Black Friday. Prices may be better, or they'll at least repeat Alexa's birthday pricing.
Get bundle deals with Alexa during Amazon sales.
Save even more on Alexa devices during these sales periods by purchasing bundles. During these big shopping events, Amazon will offer perks like free smart bulbs, smart plugs, and even services like free music streaming with the purchase of an Alexa device. You can get exclusive deals by ordering through Alexa.
When saving money is your goal, Alexa can be your sidekick. Simply prompt your device by saying, “Alexa, what are my deals?”
From there, the voice assistant will start rattling off deals. Following each deal, Alexa will ask if you want to add that product to your cart. If the answer is no, she’ll ask if you want to hear the next deal. The process keeps repeating until you get to the end of the deal list.
Before you check out, it’s a good idea to look at your cart on a device where you can get a visual of the items you just added.
Alexa gives out free samples if you ask.
We’ve gotten free samples of beef jerky, DripDrop, Drunk Elephant, and Spindrift with Alexa’s Send Me A Sample feature. All you have to do is say, “Alexa, send me a sample.” She may have you sign up for a Send Me a Sample account if it’s your first time asking, which you can do through your Alexa app. And the samples really are free — we’ve tried this several times ourselves.
Alexa can be personalized for birthdays.
Say “Alexa, open Happy Birthday Skill.”
Next say, “Alexa, set today as (insert name here)’s birthday.”
When you ask her to sing Happy Birthday, she’ll use the provided name.
Additionally, if you need help remembering birthdays, Alexa can offer up reminders. Just say, “Alexa, remember so-and-so’s birthday is Nov. 12.” She won’t let you forget it.
