Well, this sucks indeed. Bissell issued a recall of several of their different Cordless Multi-Surface Wet Dry Vacuum models due to a fire hazard, the Consumer Product Safety Commission announced — an issue caused by the circuit board within the vacuum’s battery pack overheating.

So far there have been 66 confirmed cases of the wet-dry vacuums producing a smoky odor or visibly smoking. Five of the products actually caught fire, with three incidents causing minor property damage and one resulting in injury from burns the user sustained.

The recall impacts 61,000 of the vacuums sold in the United States, plus an additional 4,300 that were sold in Canada; the recalled products retailed for about $360. Here’s what to know about the Bissell Cordless Multi-Surface Wet Dry Vacuum recall.
