If you’re a Macy’s shopper, you know the Macy’s One Day Sale is legit (and typically longer than just one day). The “One Day Sale” generally kicks off on a Friday, then carries on through the weekend. But lately Macy's is going rogue: the most recent One Day Sale ran Tuesday, March 12 ,and Wednesday, March 13. While the retailer often skips April, June, and October, this particular sale typically happens once a month, with some exceptions.
The sale happens in-store and online, making it easy to save big even without Macy's coupons. Of course, there are other ways to score a great haul at Macy’s, even when this particular sale isn’t happening. For example, Macy’s clearance section is chock full of bargains in a wide array of categories. Seriously, is there anything Macy’s doesn’t carry? Sure, but not much.

Macy’s One Day Sale is an almost-monthly, weekend event with rotating discounts in-store and online.
The Macy’s One Day Sale almost happens every month — April, June, and October are the exceptions. (And they tend to have TWO in December.) Usually, if Macy’s is having another big event — the Macy’s Friends & Family sale, for example — there won’t be a One Day Sale that month. And although it’s called a “one day” sale, it generally begins on a Friday and goes through the weekend.
This sale typically has deals up to 60% off in select categories. Most often we see the best deals on bedding and linens, cookware and small kitchen appliances, and select jewelry and apparel.
KCL predicts the next Macy’s One Day Sale will begin Friday, May 3, 2024.
Macy’s hasn’t officially announced the next date for their One Day Sale, but based on what they've done in recent years, we here at KCL predict that it’ll take place between Saturday, May 3, and Sunday, May 5, 2024.
How do we make our prediction?
In 2023, Macy’s had their One Day Sale the first weekend of May, which was May 5-7. We expect a similar timing in 2024.
If you have Macy’s Money useable during a One Day Sale, it’s a great time to rack up even better savings.
This sale typically has deals up to 60% off in select categories. Most often we see the best deals on bedding and linens, cookware and small kitchen appliances, and select jewelry and apparel. During the gifting season, we always expect to see some deals on fragrance and beauty gift sets.
During the Dec. 2023 Macy’s One Day Sale, you could earn $10 in Macy’s Money for every $50 spent, up to $40 earned. Then you could spend it during the sale that followed. Earning and redemption dates don’t always line up like this but, when they do, whew — it’s awesome.
These sales generally occur once a month, with some exceptions.
Macy’s tends to run these sales once a month. In 2023 we saw them happen in January, February, March, May, August, September, November, and December, only skipping April, June, and October so far. Last December, as previously mentioned, they actually ran two One Day Sales during that month to help accommodate the holidaying gifting rush.
Historically Macy’s skips months when they run a different type of sale, like Friends & Family. This means there are always ways to save, with different promotional opportunities offering up deals.
