Petco is rolling out a bunch of free in-store events this March, and if you have a pet (or know someone who does), these are worth adding to your calendar.
From weekly puppy playdates to free Easter bunny photos at the end of March, there are multiple chances to score freebie deals without spending a dime — and a few deals that are worth hitting up if you're shopping there anyway.

Free puppy playtime every Saturday is the best recurring freebie: It's 1 - 1:30 p.m. for pups 8 weeks to 6-months-old. Bring proof of vaccinations, and that's it — your puppy gets socialization, and you get the chance to take photos of their playtime.

The Garden Party Event on March 7 is a low-key activity if you have kids or cats: You'll decorate a peat pot for cat grass, and there are additional discounts available, no purchase required.

Get free Easter Bunny photos March 28 - 29: This is new for 2026 — Petco didn't offer these last year. Show up between 2 - 4 p.m. for a free photo with the Easter Bunny, no purchase or membership required.

The leash/collar trade-in deal on March 14 is worth it if you need new gear: Bring in an old collar, leash, or harness, and get 40% off a new one, but only from 2 - 4 p.m.
March Events
Every Saturday in March (1 - 1:30 p.m): Take your dog to a free Puppy Playtime Event.
As confirmed on Petco's website, every Saturday from 1 - 1:30 p.m., Petco hosts free puppy playtime for puppies between 8 weeks and 6-months-old. It's basically a chance for your puppy to run around, meet other pups, and (let's be real) for you to take tons of photos.
You do need to bring paper proof of vaccinations, but no purchase is required, and you don't need to be a Petco rewards member.
March 7: Decorate a pot for cat grass at the Garden Party Event.
On March 7 from 2 - 4 p.m., Petco is hosting a Garden Party in-store event. You'll decorate a biodegradable gardening pot for cat grass. It's a fun, hands-on activity that's especially great if you have kids or a cat who'd love a little indoor garden. There are also discounts available at the event; we'll update this post with specifics as soon as we have them. No purchase is required to participate.
March 14: Trade in an old collar, leash, or harness for 40% off a new one at Get Out & Play Day.
On March 14 from 2 - 4 p.m., Petco is hosting Get Out & Play Day. Bring in an old collar, leash, or harness, and you'll get 40% off a new one. If your dog (or cat) has outgrown their current gear or you've been meaning to upgrade, you can trade in your old one anytime from March 14 - 29. Petco will recycle the old gear through TerraCycle.
March 28 - 29: Snap free Easter Bunny photos from 2 - 4 p.m.
This one's new for 2026 — Petco didn't offer free Easter Bunny photos last year, so we're excited to see it on the calendar. Stop by between 2 - 4 p.m. on March 28 or 29 for a free photo with the Easter Bunny.
No purchase or membership is required. Just show up during the event window at a participating store. If you don't live near a Petco, Bass Pro and Cabela's also offer free Easter Bunny photos and allow pets.

April 4: Let your dog hunt for a hidden egg and score a free treat at the Easter Egg Hunt.
Mark your calendar for April 4, starting at 2 p.m. Petco is hosting an Easter egg hunt where your dog gets to sniff out a hidden egg and win a free treat. This one is available only while supplies last, so arriving early is a good call.
