From Mother's Day photo ops to free food tasting events, there are plenty of chances to score freebie deals without spending a dime — and a few deals worth hitting up if you're shopping there anyway.

The Mother's Day Photo Op is happening two Saturdays in a row: Stop by May 2 or May 9 from 2 - 4 p.m. to snap a photo with your pet. Based on past Petco photo events, expect a decorative backdrop and possibly some free goodies too.

Cat owners have a freebie too: The Blue Buffalo tasting on May 2 has free samples of Tastefuls entrees for cats.

Free puppy playtime every Saturday is a recurring freebie each month: It's 1 - 1:30 p.m. for pups 8 weeks to 6-months-old. Bring proof of vaccinations and that's it.

May 2: Free Blue Buffalo Cat Food Samples (2 - 4 p.m.)
On May 2 from 2 - 4 p.m., Petco is offering free samples of Blue Buffalo's Tastefuls cat food entrees. If your cat is picky or you've been curious about switching foods, this is a low-commitment way to test it out.
May 2 and May 9: Mother's Day Photo Op (2 - 4 p.m.)
With Mother's Day falling on May 10 this year, Petco is celebrating pet moms the two Saturdays leading up to it. Stop by from 2 - 4 p.m. on May 2 or May 9 for a photo op with your pet. Based on past Petco photo events, expect a decorative backdrop and possibly some free goodies.
May 3: Free Roll of Poop Bags (all day)
On May 3, Petco is offering one free roll of dog poop bags in-store (valued around $1.99), while supplies last. This is in celebration of what they've coined "May the Turd." Note that you do need to be a rewards member to claim this freebie, but it's free to join the program.
May 16: Free Wellness Food Samples (2 - 4 p.m.)
On May 16 from 2 - 4 p.m., Petco is offering free samples of Wellness pet food. If your pet is picky or you've been curious about switching foods, this is a low-commitment way to test it out.
Every Saturday: Free Puppy Playtime Event (1 - 1:30 p.m)
As confirmed on Petco's website, every Saturday from 1 - 1:30 p.m., Petco hosts free puppy playtime for puppies between 8 weeks and 6-months-old. It's basically a chance for your puppy to run around, meet other pups, and (let's be real) for you to take tons of photos.
You do need to bring paper proof of vaccinations, but no purchase is required, and you don't need to be a member of the Petco rewards program.
