Hot on the heels of September’s “Catember” giveaways, Petco is rolling out even more freebies for pets and their humans in October. This month, you can take your pet trick-or-treating in-store for a free snack and also try your luck at a scratch-off game that could score you up to a $499 shopping spree.
No rewards membership is needed for trick-or-treating, and no purchase is required to join in. If you’re always looking for ways to stretch your pet budget, these are worth adding to your calendar. (We’re tracking freebie deals at lots of other stores too.)
Petco is offering two in-store freebies during the month of October.
There are two main events to know about this month:

Free Trick-or-Treating at Petco (Available to Everyone) : On Halloween, Oct. 31, bring your pet in costume and get a free treat from the Treat Bar.

Howl-o-ween Scratch & Win (Membership Required) : Every shopper who visits on Oct. 25 gets a scratch-off card with prizes ranging from 10% - 40% off. Ten lucky winners will even walk away with a completely free transaction, up to $499. A free Vital Care Core membership is required for this one.
The next Petco Freebie (Howl-o-ween Scratch & Win Giveaway) is happening on Saturday, Oct. 25.
As confirmed on Petco's website, you can visit any Petco location on Saturday, Oct. 25, and pick up a free Howl-o-Ween Scratch & Win card for the chance to get 10%, 25%, 40%, or even 100% off your purchase. Making a purchase isn't required in order to score the Scratch & Win card; just ask the employee at the register for one. But you will need to be a rewards member, according to the fine print (that's free to join).
And on Friday, Oct. 31, your pet will get a free treat from the Treat Bar just for showing up in a costume (I've assembled a few costume deals at the end of this post).
No rewards membership is required for the in-store trick-or-treating event, but it is required for the Howl-o-Ween giveaway.
The free treat on Oct. 31 is simpler than most Petco promotions. You don't need to be a Petco rewards member, you don't need to buy anything, and you don't need to bring proof of anything. Just visit in-store during the events to claim your pet's freebie.
But for the Howl-o-Ween Scratch & Win giveaway, you'll need to be a rewards member.
Get a free sticker and lollipop if you spot Mews, their mascot, in stores through Oct. 4.
Through Saturday, Oct. 4, Petco is hosting an in-store scavenger hunt where kids can get a free sticker and lollipop if they spot Mews, the Petco cat mascot, hidden in-store. Look for the mascot from Sept. 2 - Oct. 4, according to the event detail page.
Get 25% off select Petco Halloween costumes online or in-store through Oct. 24.
