JCPenney official Black Friday sale started Nov. 17, 2023, with special offers on Nov. 24 for in-store customers when doors opened at 5 a.m.
Black Friday deals were excluded from coupons, but if you shopped Black Friday, Nov. 24, at JCPenney when doors opened at 5 a.m., one coupon per customer was given out. However, if you’ve ever read the fine print of a sale or giveaway and walked away feeling more confused than you did in the first place, you’re in excellent company.
We love that JCPenney kicks it old school on Black Friday with in-store giveaways as incentives to shop IRL. However if the fine print isn’t nearly impossible to decipher, we don’t know what is. Here’s our crack at making the confusing details of their Black Friday 2023 coupon giveaway simple:
5 AM Coupon Giveaway
As we understood it, a total of 201 coupons were up for grabs at each store for those early birds ready to bust through the doors. Quantities brokek down like this:
- $10 off $10 purchase coupon: 198 available
- $100 off $100 purchase coupon: 2 available
- $500 off $500 purchase coupon: 1 available
9 AM Coupon Giveaway
If you purchased $50 in gift cards, you’d receive a $10 off $10 coupon at point of sale. It was a limit of one coupon per transaction, so if you intended to buy, say, $100 in gift cards, we suggested you break up your transactions in two to get additional coupons.These coupons were redeemable from 11/27 – 12/3, so after the Black Friday sale was over.

Use these tips to save more on JCPenney Black Friday deals
- Sign up for JCPenney Rewards before you shop. Rewards members can earn a $10 Bonus Reward when you spend $50 on purchases Nov. 17 through Nov. 28. (Limit three per member).
- As of 2021, you can’t apply coupons during JCPenney Black Friday any longer. Keep this in mind as you shop.
- Use those mail-in rebates! JCPenney has these in spades, so use them. Unlike coupons during JCP Black Friday, mail-in rebates are still fair game.
