What is BasicTalk?
BasicTalk is a home phone service that uses your current high-speed Internet connection to get unlimited calling to anywhere in the U.S. for just $9.99 a month.
How does it work?
Once you sign up, you’ll receive a BasicTalk Box. You’ll first need to hook the box up to an open port on your Wi-Fi router. Next, plug any home phone into the box and you’re ready to go! The BasicTalk Box can also be purchased at retailers such as Walmart and Fry’s for $9.99 and, when purchasing the box in-store, you’ll receive the first month of service for free.
Can I keep my current number?
In most cases, yes! The BasicTalk website actually has a place where you can input your phone number to see whether or not it’s transferable. Another nice perk to BasicTalk is that, unlike similar services, there is no extra cost for keeping your current number.
Does it include voicemail?
Yes! BasicTalk not only includes voicemail, but call waiting and caller ID as well, so you can still screen those calls when you don’t want to talk to you-know-who.
Is it really only $9.99 a month?
Yes! BasicTalk offers high-quality home phone service for $9.99 (plus taxes) a month, every month! You may be wondering if this is some sort of introductory offer and you’ll end up seeing your bill soar in future months, but not so—$9.99 is the everyday price. The website also allows you to input your zip code and will calculate your tax so you can see what your bill will be each month and know exactly what you’re signing up for. My zip code showed me that my bill would be $11.99 each month after taxes. Previously, I’ve paid as much as $55 a month, which comes out to be a savings of over $500 a year! $500 extra bucks a year and I still get to talk while I do chores…for that price, maybe I should splurge on a cleaning service.
