Wine is a popular (and delicious) gift for friends, family, and coworkers, but the bottle itself can be kind of boring. Amp up your gift presentation with DIY printable wine labels that you can personalize. Once you’ve labeled it, learn how to wrap a wine bottle properly in four simple steps.
Customizable wine labels are impressive, but they can cost up to $15 for a sheet, which is downright highway robbery. To help save you some holiday dough, we created 10 wine label templates ranging from sayings like “Happy Birthday” and “I Love You” to “Cheers” and “Congrats.” Each themed wine label is 3.5″ x 5.25″ and comes in an array of colors and designs. Some have “to” and “from,” while others don’t.
Not only are we hooking you up with free printable wine labels, we’ve also got some cost-cutting ideas on how to save when buying wine. Try these wine subscriptions if you’re an avid collector, and read all about ways to save when buying alcohol. Remember to always drink responsibly.
How to Prep the Wine Bottle
Fill a container (one that is large enough to hold the bottle) with warm water. Your sink will also work. Submerge the bottle for 20 – 30 minutes with five to 10 tablespoons of baking soda until the glue softens.
Once the bottle has soaked, slowly remove the label using a kitchen towel, steel wool, knife, or scrub brush to discard the remaining adhesive. With the label completely removed, dry off the bottle and let it come to room temperature before applying the new label. If you try to put it on a cold bottle, the label will bubble.
How to Apply the Printable Wine Label
Print your favorite design in color. Use sharp scissors for the cleanest lines. After printing the label, fill in the “to” and “from” sections (if applicable) before affixing it. Apply the label with double-sided tape or a glue stick, pressing out any air before securing it. For these 3.5″ x 5.25″ wine labels, Bordeaux bottles are a great example of a taller style that can fit labels up to six inches tall.
