If you’re a Nordstrom shopper but love a good deal, don’t miss out on the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. This once-a-year sale is the best time to pick up designer pieces with price tags worth bragging about. In 2023, the sale ran from July 17 – Aug. 6. We expect it to return at a similar time in July 2024.
Of course, if you’re a Nordstrom cardmember, you had early access to the Anniversary Sale. Now even this early access rolled out in tiers. If you’re a cardmember categorized as an “Icon,” early sale access started July 11. “Ambassadors” got in on the sale early on July 12. And “Influencers” gained access on July 13. Take a look at your Nordstrom card account to determine which tier you’re in.
During Nordy’s sale, you can expect steep discounts on brand-new designer goods for every area of your life — your closet, your kids, your home, your hair, you name it. Don’t let the seemingly high price tags fool you, though. We’ll walk you through exactly how to shop this sale without blowing your life savings.

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale started on July 17, 2023 for everyone.
The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale takes place each summer to clear out inventory before the new, fresh fashion pieces arrive. The sale typically happens in mid- to late July and lasts through August — online and in stores.
In 2023, the sale started for the public on July 17 and ran through Aug. 6. However, if you’re a cardmember, you had early access to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. Early access rolled out in phases across three days depending on your cardmember category. The most fanatical customers had early access on July 11, the next tier started shopping on July 12, and the third tier jumped in on July 13.
Become a Nordy Club member before the sale.
Nordy Club is Nordstrom’s free loyalty program that’s good at full-line stores and also at Nordstrom Rack. As a standard member, you’ll earn 1% back on every purchase.
When you spend $1,000 (or reach 1,000 points) at any Nordstrom store, you’ll get a $10 Nordstrom Note. (A “Nordstrom Note” is basically store cash that you can spend on your next purchase.)
You can get 2% cash back when you use a Nordstrom debit card — it’s connected to your checking account, similar to how the Target RedCard works. With the Nordstrom debit card, you’ll get a $20 Note when you spend $1,000. Here are more Nordy Club perks:
- Find out about sale events, such as the Anniversary Sale and Clear the Rack events, before nonmembers do.
- Get free basic alterations.
- Enjoy three personal “double points” days once you reach their Influencer level (spend at least $500 per year).
Your points only expire if your account has been inactive for 12 months.
The better the Nordy Club status, the earlier you’ll shop.
As previously mentioned, Nordy Club cardmembers can take advantage of the Anniversary Sale discounts even sooner. Your status level will determine when you can shop the sales.
Nordy Club Status Level Shopping Times:
- Influencer: Influencers must spend at least $2,000 in a single year at Nordstrom, and they can enjoy the Anniversary Sale prices six days early.
- Ambassador: Ambassador status requires an annual minimum of $5,000 spent at Nordstrom. Ambassadors can access the Anniversary Sale eight days early.
- Icon: If you’ve achieved Icon status, that means you’ve spent at least $15,000 at Nordstrom in a single year — and that you can access the Anniversary Sale before anyone else (nine days earlier!).
If you aren’t a card member yet, you can sign up here and get a $40 bonus Note to use toward your Anniversary Sale haul.

Shop the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale online.
This sale is offered in stores and online. Not only can you shop the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale online, but Nordstrom actually recommends it, as stores can get really crowded during this period.
Is Nordstrom Rack part of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale?
Two words: We wish. The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale applies only to Nordstrom stores and to Nordstrom.com. Nordstrom Rack is its own (beautiful) beast and doesn’t participate in the big annual sale. But they do have “Clear the Rack” sales events that happen roughly once a month, usually lasting two to five days.

Go into the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale with a budget in mind.
The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale can be overwhelming. It’s often hard to tell what’s a good deal and what’s a great deal because prices are already so high. The way I shop the Nordstrom Anniversary sale is by first making a budget I’m willing to splurge on and then focusing on the items I can’t buy anywhere else.
The Nordstrom return policy is the best, seriously.
Thinking of all the return policies out there, hands down the Nordstrom return policy is top-notch. They strive on making every customer’s experience unique, and that includes returns. There’s no limit to how many items can be returned, and there’s also no limit on how long you have to return something.
