We Predict Chick-fil-A's Code Moo Game Will Start June 19 (What to Expect)

For the past four years, Chick-fil-A has canceled Cow Appreciation Day due to concerns surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic. However, with mask mandates long over, we’ve been hoping to hear some good news about the event returning. Last year, Chick-fil-A released Code Moo, a game you can play on your device to earn free food.

While Chick-fil-A has yet to release any details about this year's event, we predict the Code Moo game will come back in June. Until then, we have the scoop on how to play the game, plus what we expect for prizes based on what we saw last year.

Chick-Fil-A Code Moo is an annual six-week game you play to get free food and prizes.

Code Moo is Chick-fil-A's summertime promotional game that offers multiple chances to win free food and merchandise. Players answer location-based questions to earn rewards through the Chick-fil-A app.

Completing weekly challenges also enters players into a raffle for prizes like a trip to a football championship or cow-themed merchandise. Rewards include free items such as Chick-fil-A nuggets, medium fountain drinks, waffle fries, Sunjoy, brownies, and chicken sandwiches.

(Code Moo replaced Cow Appreciation Day, which had rewarded people with free food for dressing up like a cow in July. It has been discontinued since Covid.)

KCL predicts the next Chick-fil-A Code Moo will begin on Wednesday, June 19, 2024.

Chick-fil-A hasn’t officially announced the next date for their Code Moo game, but based on last year’s schedule, we here at KCL predict that it’ll take place between Wednesday, June 19, and Wednesday, July 31, 2024.

How do we make our prediction?

Last year, Chick-fil-A Code Moo started on the third Wednesday in June, and ran for six weeks until August 1. Given that timeframe, the start date in 2024 would be Wednesday, June 19, and six weeks later would be Wednesday, July 31.

You can play Code Moo by going to playCodeMoo.com. In the game, you’ll be asked a series of questions based on a geographical location, and it’s your goal to find out which location the question is referring to. After you answer enough questions correctly, you’ll be given a reward added to your Chick-fil-A Rewards app.

Plus, you’ll be entered into a raffle if you complete the challenges every week. You’ll get one entry per week, but if you complete all six weeks, your chances will be doubled.

We don't know what the prizes will be in 2024, here's a look at what the prizes from last year:

• Grand Prize (1 winner): Trip for two to Houston, TX for the 2024 College Football Playoff National Championship with a Waffle Fry party and free Chick-fil-A sandwiches. (ARV: $9,320.16)

• First Prize Winner (23 winners): Cow themed swag bag with visor, slides, beach towel, water bottle, crossbody bag, tote bag, paddle board set, beach hoodie, pocket t-shirt, and plush cow (ARV: $326.00)

You’re limited to one prize per account. This year, Chick-fil-A will most likely announce the winners on August 14.

There will be 2,500,000 prizes every week.

Code Moo lasts for six weeks. Each rewards member will be limited to one free reward per week starting on Wednesdays, but they are in limited supply. Each week, only 2,500,000 prizes will be given. Every reward will expire six days after they are awarded, and they can be used at every location as long as you claim your reward on your next order through the Chick-fil-A app.

• Week 1 (June 21 – June 27): free 8-count Chick-fil-A Nugget (reg. $5.39)

• Week 2 (June 28 – July 4): free medium fountain drink (reg. $2.45)

• Week 3 (July 5 – July 11): free Chick-fil-A medium Waffle Fry (reg. $2.65)

• Week 4 (July 12 – July 18): free medium Sunjoy (reg. $2.79)

• Week 5 (July 19 – 25): free Chick-fil-A brownie (reg. $2.29)

• Week 6 (July 26 – August 1): free Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich (reg. $5.29)

Cow Appreciation Day will not take place in restaurants this year.

In previous years, kids received a free Chick-fil-A sandwich (regularly $5.29) while adults could get an entree of their choice (up to $8.85 value) when they dressed like a cow. We don't expect this event to return in 2024.

The free rewards program has four tiers, each level with additional perks (like earning more points per $1 you spend. However, if you're just joining you’ll earn 10 points for every $1 spent and receive fun stuff like Chick-fil-A coupons for free food and birthday rewards.

Prices differ by location, but here’s an idea of what points can buy:

• Large Waffle Fries: 500 points

• Chick-fil-A Nuggets: 600 points

• 2-count Chick-n Strips: 600 points

• Sausage Biscuit: 700 points

• 5-count Grilled Nuggets: 800 points

• Bowl of Chicken Noodle Soup: 1,200 points

• Meal (including entree, side, and drink): 2,500 points
