It's back, baby! Chick-fil-A is bringing back their beloved Cow Appreciation Day on July 14, 2026. Dress up like a cow and you'll get FREE Chick-fil-A, no strings, no catch.
The in-person promotion was a fan favorite for years before quietly disappearing after 2019. In its absence, Chick-fil-A leaned on Code Moo, a game for app users to earn Chick-fil-A deals and coupons for free food, as a stand-in. Now the dress-like-a-cow holiday is officially back on the calendar. And boy are we here for it, because this year's free food options include breakfast option, lunch, and a kids' meal.
Here's everything we know about the return of Chick-fil-A Cow Appreciation Day, from the freebies to the day-of details.
Want to know how to save on every Chick-fil-A order ? We’ve got all the savings tips that you should know about, including some Chick-fil-A secret menu items .

What is Cow Appreciation Day?
This once-annual promo is a one-day event where you can earn free food by dressing up like a cow. You have to show up in person. Digital ordering doesn't count for Cow Appreciation Day. The free entree is only available to people who are at the restaurant, and you can redeem it through dine-in, carry-out, or the drive-thru.
For costume ideas, Chick-fil-A points customers to its own cow costume craft guide — though anything recognizably cow-themed should do the trick.
When is Cow Appreciation Day?
The promo runs in-store July 14, 2026, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. local time at participating Chick-fil-A restaurants. Each person dressed like a cow can claim one free entree, while supplies last.
Free Food Rewards
Guests dressed like a cow can pick one free entree from the lists below, subject to availability and what each location offers:
-
Breakfast: Chick-fil-A Chicken Biscuit (Original) or a 4-count Chick-n-Minis
-
Lunch and dinner: Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich (Original or Spicy), 8-count Nuggets
-
Kids: A 5-count Nuggets Kids' Meal (Original or Grilled), which comes with a drink, side, and a prize.
What happened to Code Moo?
Code Moo is Chick-fil-A's in-app summer game, which ran for the past three summers and handed out a weekly free-food prize to players who completed each week's mini-game in the Chick-fil-A app.
The event has shrunk year over year: it lasted six weeks in 2023, four in 2024, and just three in 2025. And the prizes followed suit — the 2023 grand prize was an 8-count of nuggets, while 2025's top reward was a 5-count.
With Cow Appreciation Day returning to the same mid-July window, we're not sure whether Code Moo will return in 2026.
