A Carter’s pajamas recall has impacted more than 50,000 onesies for posing dangerous risks to infants and babies.

Why is there a Carter’s pajamas recall?

The baby-wear brand recalled 50,800 onesies after small metal wires were discovered inside the fabric. These wires could potentially injure and harm children, with the specific risks of laceration and puncture wounds. An additional 200 onesies were reportedly sold in Canada.

The William Carter Company, the parent company of Carter’s, said in a statement on Nov. 17, 2022, “Working in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Health Canada, Carter’s is conducting a voluntary recall of these pajamas sold between July 2022 and September 2022.”

 

What is included in the Carter’s recall?

U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission reports that the affected items in the Carter’s recall are Carter’s infants’ yellow footed fleece pajamas with a pink pig graphic. The recalled items are in sizes 12M, 18M, and 24M. As of this writing, there are no other items in the Carter’s recall.

The style is No. 1O102410. The UPCs for each respective size are 195861313861, 195861313878, and 195861313885, also available on the price and care tags.

 

How do I know if my child’s pajamas are part of the Carter’s recall?

If you aren’t sure whether your baby’s pajamas are included in the recall, check the price tag (if it’s still affixed) or on the care tag, which is sewn inside the pajamas. The UPC will be on the bottom right of the back of the care tag, while the pajamas’ Style No. will be visible on the front of the care tag in the upper left corner.

What stores sold the pajamas from the Carter’s recall?

The recalled Carter’s pajamas were sold at Belk, Boscov’s, Carter’s, Carters.com, Kohl’s, and Macy’s from July 2022 through September 2022, with a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $22.

What to do if you have pajamas from the Carter’s recall:

The U.S. CPSC advises customers to immediately remove the recalled pajamas from the reach of children and to stop the use of them immediately.

You can return the recalled pajamas in person at your nearest Carter’s retail store for a full gift card refund. If you purchased the pajamas from another retailer, don’t worry; you can also contact Carter’s at www.cartersrecall.com to fill out an online form to receive a free shipping label and package to return the pajamas by mail in exchange for a gift card refund.

Alternatively, you may also call the Carter’s consumer affairs department at 1-800-692-4674, Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. ET for a prepaid envelope and free return label to return the recalled pajamas by mail. All returns will be refunded by gift card.
