1. The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993, PG)

The Nightmare Before Christmas is probably one of the only movies that doubles as a Disney Halloween movie AND a Christmas movie. Jack Skellington is the Pumpkin King in Halloween Town but wants to come for Santa Claus’s turf when he stumbles into Christmas Town. Although he means well, he makes Christmas a scary affair for everyone. This Tim Burton movie has some of the most memorable musical numbers that’ll have everyone singing along.
2. The Haunted Mansion (2003, PG)

This Eddie Murphy Disney Halloween movie is based on the popular attraction at Disney World. The Haunted Mansion follows a real estate agent and his family getting trapped in … a haunted mansion, of course. They try to escape but realize they’ve gotten into more than they bargained for.
3. Hocus Pocus (1993, PG)

No Disney Halloween movies list is complete without Hocus Pocus. Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy make up the legendary three evil witches who get released by three kids on Halloween night. This cult classic has a sing-along soundtrack and tons of quotable lines to make for a fun family evening.

4. Hocus Pocus 2 (2022, PG)

The Sanderson sisters are once again going to be released in modern-day Salem after three kids let them loose on the world. The Disney Halloween movie sequel will be available exclusively on Disney Plus on Sept. 30, 2022.
5. Twitches (2005, PG)

Run Time: 1 hour 26 minutes
Twitches is like Parent Trap mixed with Sabrina, the Teenage Witch. It’s the story of two girls, Alex and Camryn, who were separated at birth before finding each other as teens and discovering their unusual witch powers. (It’s not unlike the premise of the Mowrys’ 1990s TV show Sister, Sister, plus magic.)
They realize two are better than one, and they band together to try to save the world.
6. Twitches Too (2007, TV-PG)

This is the sequel to Twitches, who are now known for the fact that they are witchy royalty. But with great power comes great responsibility, and the twins don’t know how to handle it.
7. Spooky Buddies (2011, G)

If your kids love Paw Patrol, then there’s a high chance they’ll love Spooky Buddies. Spooky Buddies is the fifth installment of the Air Buddies series and shows a group of cute talking dogs investigating a haunted mansion only to get tangled up with an evil pup named Warwick the Warlock.
8. Frankenweenie (2012, PG)

Frankenweenie truly explores the idea that a dog is a boy’s best friend. Frankenweenie is a kid-friendly adaptation of the Mary Shelley novel, except instead of a man being brought back from the dead, it’s a dog named Sparky. Similar in style and tone to The Nightmare Before Christmas, this movie is also done in stop-motion style.
9. Coco (2017, PG)

Cast: Alana Ubach, Benjamin Bratt, Anthony Gonzalez, Gael Garcia Bernal

Coco is a culturally rich, colorful celebration of the traditional Mexican holiday Day of the Dead, another Halloween-season festivity. The movie is about a 12-year-old boy whose path leads him to search for his ancestors in the Land of the Dead.
10. Maleficent (2014, PG)

Run Time: 1 hour 37 minutes
Maleficent is a great choice for fairytale lovers. It tells the story of a beautiful young woman living an ideal life in a jungle until she becomes a sinister creature due to a betrayal. Maleficent is not only entertaining, but you can get some great costume inspiration from watching.
11. Maleficent: Mistress of Evil (2019, PG)

Cast: Angelina Jolie, Elle Fanning, Michelle Pfeifer, Harris Dickinson, Ed Skrein
Run Time: 1 hour 58 minutes
Maleficent distances herself from her goddaughter, Aurora, when she opposes her engagement with Prince Phillip. Unknown to them, an enemy lurks, waiting to capitalize on their discord and destroy all that they love.
12. Smart House (1999, NR)

Run Time: 1 hour 23 minutes
The plot of Smart House is quickly becoming a reality, thanks to all of the Alexa devices running our homes. In the movie, Ben Copper and his family live in a smart house that is run by a virtual assistant called PAT.
Eventually, Ben programs PAT to become a mother figure, but the smart home takes it too far. Hopefully, Alexa doesn’t try to take our lives over, but you never know.
12. The Black Cauldron (1985, PG)

The Black Cauldron brings on the mid-80s cheesy fun that the whole family can enjoy. It follows a story of a young boy in Prydain who aims to fulfill his dreams and challenge an evil king so that he can become a heroic knight.
13. James and the Giant Peach (1996, PG)

Not only that, but they also find out they come from a family of witches. They must fulfill their destiny by fighting off evil forces before it’s too late.
15. Halloweentown II: Kalabar’s Revenge (2001, TV-PG)

The Halloweentown film series has a lot of additions. So many that you could have a Halloweentown movie marathon. This is the second installment in the saga and follows Marnie and her sister back into Halloweentown. They discover that an evil warlock has stolen their grandmother’s book of spells, and now he wants to use it on humans.
16. Halloweentown High (2004, TV-G)

In the third installment of the Halloweentown series, Marnie recruits several Halloweentown people to join high school in her world and ensures them that no one will harm them. But things go left when they encounter the evil Knight of the Iron Dagger. Now it’s up to her to save them.
17. Return to Halloweentown (2006, TV-PG)

If you want to show your family some vintage slapstick fun, then Mr. Boogedy should be your top choice for movie night. When a slimy salesman and his family move into a new house, they brush off the bumps in the night as nothing more than pranks. After a while, they can’t deny the hauntings, especially when they run into the dangerous Mr. Boogedy man.

24. Lego Star Wars: Terrifying Tales (2021, G)

This spooky-season movie revolves around a crash landing that finds Poe Dameron and BB-8 on the planet of Mustafar. 25. Under Wraps (2021, TV-Y7)

29. The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad (1949, G)

This is a short film, but it packs a great story in a short time. It’s about Mexican-American teenager Val Garcia — a half-human and half-vampire. She is struggling hard to keep her identity a secret from both worlds.
