Although I love hitting up my local drugstores to get the hot coupon deals each week, there’s one time when I dread going—when I need a refill on my pricey prescription! As someone who suffers from migraines, having that medicine on hand can be a real life-saver, but paying over $100 for a refill seriously hurts my budget. Fortunately, I recently discovered GoodRx, which allowed me to get that same refill for just 10 bucks!

What is GoodRx?

GoodRx is a website and mobile app that allows users to compare prices for all FDA-approved prescription drugs at pharmacies across the country. It also lets you search for pharmacy coupons and manufacturer coupons, as well as find generics and comparable drugs.

How does it work?

GoodRx couldn’t be easier to use. Simply type in the name of your prescription drug, put in your zip code, and search! You’ll be shown a list of all the pharmacies in the area and the price of the drug at each location. However, my favorite aspect of GoodRx is the list of coupons! Above the list of pharmacies, the GoodRx app will show you all available savings tips, which includes any available coupons. I couldn’t believe when I typed in my migraine medication and saw a manufacturer coupon to pay just $10 for a refill! After typing in several other well-known drugs, I noticed quite a few of them had coupons, manufacturer assistance programs, and cheaper alternatives listed. In fact, GoodRx claims that they often save users as much as 80%!

Can I check different quantities or brands?

Yes! After you do a search for your drug, you’ll be given a drop-down menu that will allow you to change variables such as brand, dosage, form and quantity.

How many pharmacies does GoodRx check?

GoodRx checks prices at over 70,000 pharmacies and boasts that they check virtually every pharmacy in America. While checking my prescriptions, I noticed all of the major drugstores such as CVS, Walgreens and Target on the list, as well as several smaller, locally-owned pharmacies.

What devices is GoodRx available on?

GoodRx is available for both Apple and Android devices, which allows users to pull up available coupons while at the pharmacy! However, if you don’t have a smartphone, you can still compare prices and find savings tips at GoodRx.com!
