When New Year’s rolls around, many of us make our own New Year’s resolutions. With resolutions, you may find yourself with a shopping list of items to help you reach your goals. Or come January, you simply buy yourself all those things you wanted but didn’t find under the tree. Regardless of your intentions, we’ve got you covered with these 10 best New Year’s sales.
Many shoppers got to ring in 2023 with low-cost bedding, half-off video games, great deals on sweet kicks, and the best sale of the year on all your Bath & Body Works needs. Plus, we even saw a way to save half a grand on your Peloton habit.
Some of the sales we tracked were explicitly for New Year’s, and that’s where we start with today’s list. But other sales included post-holiday savings that happened to run through New Year’s Day. Either way, shoppers could potentially save a ton of cash.

1. Amazon New Year’s Sale
Amazon’s New Year Sale rang in the new year with style! Prime members could shop the deals section to find discounts as high as 84% off. You could find steep savings on everything from generators to tablets to clothing to art supplies.
So pretty much, on almost anything under the sun.
For next year, bear in mind that not all of these Amazon sale prices lasted through New Year’s Day. There were time limits, and sale items rolled in and out. Some sales are capped, too. If you see an item you want and Amazon lists a percentage claimed, it might not be there for you if you wait to buy.

2. Bath & Body Works Semi-Annual Sale
In January, Bath & Body Works runs their biggest sale of the year! Yes, you read that right. OF THE YEAR. This sale is even better than anything you might find on Black Friday.
The Bath & Body Works Semi-Annual Sale started on Dec. 26, 2022, and ran for about three weeks, giving you up to 75% off select items. The sale ended around Jan. 17, 2023, but some stores continue the sale until they run out of stock.
The items that get marked down are rotated in and out on a weekly basis, so just because you’ve shopped it once doesn’t mean you’ve seen all the latest Bath & Body Works deals that will be available.

3. Dillard’s New Year’s Sale
The Dillard’s New Year’s Sale is infamous, both for its low prices and huge crowds. The sale didn’t run in 2022, and Dillard’s announced at the very last minute that they were not hosting it in 2023 — much to our dismay.
But it if does ever make a reappearance, this sale gives you 50% off clearance items, allowing you to score some truly incredible deals.
4. Nintendo New Year’s Sale
Nintendo does it up with the New Year’s sales in their eShop. The Nintendo New Year Sale kicked off on Jan. 5 and lasted until Jan. 15, with savings of 25% – 75% on select Nintendo Switch games.
We saw the biggest savings on Celeste and Doom Eternal — both were 75% off!
5. Peloton New Year’s Sale
Peloton ran a big New Year’s sale through Jan. 8, 2023. This sale had two parts:
- $500 off Bike, Bike+, and Tread products
- $250 off Guide or Row packages
It’s important to bear in mind that you need an All-Access Membership in order to utilize all the features on all of these Peloton packages except Guide. The All-Access Membership costs you $44 per month, which adds up to $528 per year. (The Guide package by itself is $24 per month, or $288 per year.)
With the $500 discount, you’re still saving $500. You’d need the All-Access Membership either way. Keep in mind for future sales that you’ll need to make sure to budget in that extra $528 membership fee on top of your purchase price.
TIP: If you’re going to spend the money on a Peloton, look into the Peloton healthcare discount for certain professionals.
6. Walmart Post-Holiday Clearance
We sure do love us some Walmart Rollback deals. They’ve been rolling out the rollbacks a lot these days, and late December/early January was no exception.
In addition, Walmart marked their after-Christmas clearance down to 75% off on Jan. 2, 2023. Those discounts lasted until mid-January, when items were marked down to 90% off — just like in past years.
But keep in mind that inventory gets picked over for these post-Christmas sales pretty quickly. And it doesn’t get restocked — the point is to get rid of inventory and clear up some shelf space.

7. Target Post-Holiday Clearance
Target also ran some great deals in the week running up to New Year’s Day. These deals were in addition to their Christmas clearance.
The after-Christmas Target sale had holiday inventory marked down to 70% off through New Year’s Day, and the in-store Target Christmas markdowns continued to drop even further — down to 90% off on Jan. 4, 2023.
TIP: The timing of Target’s Christmas clearance markdowns makes their deals even better than Walmart’s. For example, the discount was 90% off in-store at Target, while it was still only 75% off at Walmart.
8. Nike End-of-Season Sale
Yes, Nike shoes do go on sale!
Through Jan. 3, 2023, Nike ran their End of Season sale, covering you for New Year’s and beyond. You could claim an additional 20% off select styles by using the promo code CHEERS at checkout.
Even into January, you could still shop the sale section of Nike.com for up to 40% off.

9. Macy’s After-Christmas Clearance
Macy’s After-Christmas Clearance launched Dec. 26, 2022, and continued through New Year’s, too. Sale items were marked down 50% – 80% off, and if you used coupons, you could score an additional 20%+ off your purchase.
We really love this sale for bedding and linens. Historically, prices are better during this sale than they are during the White Sale in January.
10. Kohl’s After Christmas Sale + Kohl’s Cash Bonuses
Kohl’s After Christmas Sale is one you don’t want to miss! This sale gives you 30% – 70% off select items in every single section of the store. Save an extra 20% with the promo code, either in-store or online.
Plus, shoppers could use all that Kohl’s Cash earned during post-holiday shopping. Any Kohl’s Cash you earned on Dec. 26, 2022, can be redeemed Jan. 9 – 16.
TIP: When shopping the New Year’s sales at Kohl’s, keep an eye out for Kohl’s Cash bonuses with the purchase of select items throughout the store.
