The new Samsung Galaxy A14 5G recently dropped — just in time for tax refund season. And if there are two things I know I love, it’s cell phones and getting my tax return. But is this new addition to a long line of Android smartphones worth your tax refund? We all know that in this economy, every penny counts, and there’s no sense in spending your hard-earned dollar on something that isn’t worth it.
So what are the pros and cons of the new Samsung Galaxy A14 5G, where can you get it, and how does it compare to other products? And if you’re feeling this phone, how do you get the lowest price on it (and other Samsung goodies)? I’m doing a deep dive into this product launch, from analyzing its features to comparing its cost to similar products.

What is the Samsung Galaxy A14 5G?
But for me, the first thing that stood out about this phone is its battery life. It promises a multiday battery life, which is pretty long compared to the multihour battery life of smartphones past. If you’re often out and about, it’s essential to be able to go a long time without charging. (Too many times have I been lost somewhere only to have my phone die when I needed directions … never again).
Note from the manufacturer: 5G speeds vary and require optimal network and connection (Factors include frequency, bandwidth, and congestion). See carrier for availability.
So How Much is a Samsung Galaxy A14 5G?
Given the specs, it’s kind of shocking to me that it’s only $179 online at Walmart with activation. Even better, if you buy it in store, you only need to pay $119 with activation! That’s one of the lowest prices on the market currently. Other 5G, 64 GB memory phones go for a minimum of $159 with activation at Walmart, but those models lack the triple-lens rear camera and don’t have a full high-definition display. Considering the Galaxy A14 5G has those added features, it’s crazy it only costs $20 more than competitors online and $40 less in store.
While that price is already pretty cheap, you can also pay it off for $16.58/month over a year with affirm. And if you’re a Walmart+ member, you can get this item mailed to you with free next-day shipping.
Given those options, I’d say this phone is worth the money, especially if you have a teen or preteen that needs a first phone. The low price point paired with its specs that make it good for gaming and streaming and the fact that it’s a pay-as-you-go phone makes it a solid choice for kids and teens. Or a really budget-friendly smartphone for anyone looking to get the most bang for their buck.
Overall, it’s definitely worth your tax refund when you compare its value and price.
