Drugstores are great places for couponing, but that doesn’t mean they have the best sale prices on everything.

What are the worst things to buy at Walgreens?

Here’s my list of products you should avoid there and where you should get them instead.

1. Maruchan Ramen Noodle Soup

Not only do we rarely see any deals on this, but they sell for $0.49 apiece. That may SEEM super cheap, but the same packets go for $0.25 at Walmart.

2. Contigo Water Bottles

The best place to find Contigo brand reusable bottles at a low price is Target, where we’ve seen a 2-pack of bottles for $8.55!

That’s quite a bit less than the “sale” price of $12.99 for one bottle at Walgreens.

Check out more Contigo deals.

3. Milk

Milk is just one of those items we never really see deals for at Walgreens. The best place to buy milk is usually at grocery stores.

Check out more milk deals.

4. High-end hair care

We rarely see coupons on higher-end shampoos and conditioners at Walgreens. Brands like Paul Mitchell are usually best bought at salons anyway. There is no guarantee the quality will be the same at a drugstore.

5. Cascade dishwasher detergent

My stock-up price for Cascade detergent is about $3.00, and Walgreens is not the best place to find it this low.

Check out more Cascade deals.

6. Duracell batteries

Battery deals, in general, aren’t a super common occurrence. The best way to get a good deal is to buy the jumbo pack of 46 batteries at Best Buy for around $15.00.

You can also try your luck and check back for battery deals.

7. Nice! candles

You can almost always find better deals on candles elsewhere. Every once in a while Walgreens will have a B1G2 free sale that will bring them to a decent price — otherwise, steer clear.

Check out deals from Bath and Body Works for low price candles.

8. Coca -Cola Products

While Coca-Cola deals really aren’t too common either, if you do find them, they’re probably gonna be at Target.

Look out for Coca-Cola deals.

9. Oreos

While you can find deals for Oreos at drugstores, usually Rite Aid is a better bet. Target probably has the most offers on Oreos, so that’s always my first place to look.

Check for current Oreo deals.

10. Wheat Thins

Since Wheat Thins are also owned by Nabisco like Oreo cookies, Target is the best place to find deals.

Check for current Wheat Thins deals.

11. Photo frames

Frames aren’t terribly expensive at Walgreens, but you can usually find better deals at Walmart or Target.

A simple black frame at Walgreens was $7.99 while a similar frame was $9.99 for a set of four ($2.50/frame).

12. Tampax and Always

When shopping for feminine hygiene, Walmart or Target tend to be the best places to find deals when you can stack manufacturer coupons with in-store sales.

Check for current Tampax deals and Always deals.

13. Enfamil formula and bottles

Usually, if there’s a coupon for Enfamil, it’s going to be a manufacturer coupon. Target and Walmart both have lower prices on the same formula, and you can use your RedCard at Target to get 5% off.

Check for current Enfamil deals.

14. Generic over-the-counter medicine

Store generic brands for over-the-counter medicine tend to be more expensive at Walgreens. You can find the same thing at Walmart for more than 50% off the Walgreens brand.
