Do you need more farmhouse chic in your life — but on a budget? I mean, who doesn’t love shiplap? The thing is, Magnolia Market home decor can be a little spendy, even at Target.

Magnolia products are the most expensive on Joanna Gaines’ very own website, MagnoliaMarket.com. So unless you’re planning a trip to the actual Magnolia Market (please take me with you!), don’t buy direct. I’m going to show you how and where to shop for the best of Joanna Gaines’ trademark style.

When you download the KCL app, you can get updates as Magnolia products go on clearance at Target and other stores.

1. Look for Target Magnolia sales on home decor for up to 50% in savings.

Shopping Target Magnolia products can help you save big. Target has an exclusive line created just for them: Hearth & Hand with Magnolia. But even though these items are designed for Target, their prices are still a little higher.

Magnolia home clearance at Target is an easy way to save. Don’t pass up the 50% off clearance items online. I’ve seen the kitchen and home decor items for as little as $4.27. In stores, clearance items are scattered around different areas (near the Magnolia home section, stationery section, and home goods), so make sure you look around these endcaps in your store. Clearance may not all be in one place.

Know that Magnolia clearance items will likely sell out quickly and vary from store to store. At select Target stores like mine, you can find Magnolia items marked on clearance a few times a year. I see clearance items pop up with seasonal refreshes. You can expect prior seasonal items to go on clearance just before a new season’s collection is released. In 2021, the Magnolia Christmas collection was available in early November, and the prior seasonal items were on clearance right before that. The new spring Magnolia collection launched on April 24, 2022, and we saw clearance items online at Target on April 19, 2022.

Here are some deals I’ve seen pop up in the past:

2. Buy Magnolia Market cookbooks on sale.

Magnolia Market cookbooks are sold all over the place: from Amazon, Target, and Walmart, all the way to HomeGoods. The good news for us — that means more opportunities for deals. In April 2022, HomeGoods had the Magnolia Table Volume 2 Cookbook on sale for just $12.99, whereas everyone else was selling it for $17.

If you’re interested in Joanna Gaines’ home decor book, it’s currently priced at $21 everywhere.

Before buying any Magnolia Market books, compare prices at a few stores to make sure you’re getting the best deal.

3. Save time and money by matching Magnolia Market paint at Home Depot.

Magnolia Market paint can be a little pricey. One hack I’ve learned about interior painting (my personal favorite) is using colors of the original paint to make your own cheaper version. Home Depot carries expensive brands like Magnolia. Take the color card you like from the Magnolia display and have the paint center use Magnolia’s color formula to concoct an exact paint match in a different brand for a fraction of the price.

My second hack is that some brands, like Behr’s, have eerily similar colors to popular brands like Magnolia. For example, if you like the color of Magnolia’s “Gatherings” paint ($54.99), you can buy a gallon of Behr’s “Coliseum Marble” for $49.98 at Home Depot. That’s a savings of $5.01.

Plus, Magnolia takes 14 to 21 business days to ship (with $10.95 shipping), while Home Depot can get me my paint in a few days with $7.99 shipping (or free if the total’s over $45).

4. Buy Magnolia home pillows at Target and save at least 50% or more.

If you love Magnolia home pillows, Target has an abundant selection of Hearth & Hand Magnolia pillows.

Since Joanna Gaines’ Hearth & Hand is an exclusive line sold at Target, the designs of pillows, rugs, and throws are unique just for Target. The products in the Hearth & Hand collection aren’t exact replicas of what’s offered on MagnoliaMarket.com, but saving up to 58% is well worth it (at least in my opinion).

Check out these prices in March 2021:

5. Choose Target over Amazon for Magnolia Market serving accessories.

Amazon carries Magnolia Market candles, home decorations, books, and kitchenware — and if you’re a Prime member you can tack on free 2-day shipping to your order. But contrary to belief, I’ve seen vastly different prices on Amazon than those at Target, even for duplicate items, and those prices are usually higher.

That’s why it’s good to pay attention to how much prices can fluctuate on Amazon. Remember to check Target.com and confirm where you’ll get the better deal. On Amazon, these products could be sold by a third party, which normally means higher prices.

In May 2022, I found identical sugar canisters for sale, but Amazon was charging 52% more than Target.com’s prices:

Another example of Amazon overcharging for simple Magnolia store items:

That’s a 68% discount — or $25.66 in savings.
