The value of this sale's in-store coupon varies between 30% - 50% off. Stores also have a Golden Coupon worth $60 off a purchase of $60 or more. Can't make it to a store? The JCPenney Mystery Sale is a 4-times-a-year event where you get a Mystery Coupon — it typically lasts 4 - 7 days.
The in-store mystery coupons are for 30%, 40%, or 50% off your purchase (some exclusions apply). The in-store coupons are available when doors open, until they run out.
JCPenney's Mystery Sale happens four times a year: March or April (the week leading up to Easter), August, October, and December. Typically you'll find that you have four days to use your Mystery Coupon. However, during the October 2025 event, you got five days. The December event usually lasts a whopping seven days, based on what we've seen in the past.
KCL predicts the next JCPenney Mystery Sale will be July 30 - Aug. 2.
The JCPenney Mystery sale happens in the spring, summer, fall, and in mid-December. We think the summer sale will kick off the last Thursday of July like last year.

Can I use two coupons at JCPenney?
Sorry, folks, that's a negative. You can't stack two coupons at JCPenney. However, you can use one coupon and one JCPenney Rewards voucher in a single transaction. That's as good a reason as any to sign up for a free JCP Rewards account, where you'll receive one rewards point for every $1 spent. Once you hit 200 points, there's a $10 reward coming your way.
The Mystery Sale coupon is also not good on clearance items (but sale items are OK) or on national brands like Levi's or Nike.
The best coupons are available in stores only, but you can get 30% off online.
The best coupons will be handed out at the door, and the possible values are 30%, 40%, or 50% off, or (occasionally) $60 off a purchase of $60 or more. But if you're shopping online, you can use the promo code on JCPenney's site for 30% off.
If you get the in-store coupon, you can use it online if you prefer (the online promo code is printed on the coupon). So you might just want to pick it up at a store and then shop online with it, if that's more convenient.
During the April 2025 event, JCPenney also mailed out the same coupons that were available in-store to their rewards members. So check your mailbox too.
What about coupons on JCPenney clearance?
You can't use the mystery coupon on JCPenney clearance, which is indeed a bummer. But use JCPenney savings hacks to make the most of this sale and save on everything in your JCP cart.
