When I need fashion inspiration, I take a stroll through a J.Jill store. Seeing the pretty palette of earthy colors, the super-soft fabrics, and the interchangeable pieces gives me drive to add a little more style to my wardrobe.

I'd love to be able to walk into the store, point to the outfits in the style-forward display window, and announce "I'll take those!"  But unfortunately, I don't have several hundred dollars to drop in a single trip. Instead, I pick a few pieces from J.Jill that I know will be versatile with what's already in my closet. And thanks to amazing J.Jill sales and promotions, I'm able to afford that. Here's how:

Check the sale item of the week

J.Jill offers one item at a crazy discount every week. For example, a floral linen skirt originally at $119 was offered in May for only $24.99! To get it even without making a trip to the store, check the J.Jill homepage, and click on the "Sale Item of the Week" icon in the lower left corner.

Wait for a 25% off outlet sale

J.Jill routinely discounts already highly-clearanced merchandise in their online sale and outlet section. When you see the red 25 percent off lines under the outlet items online, you know it's time to save big (like 60, 70 or 80 percent off retail prices!). Here's a sampling of what to expect:

  • Artisan Leather Belt: Originally $49, discounted to $9.99, further to $7.49
  • Pure Jill Wishbone Necklace: Originally $20, discounted to $12.99, further to $9.74
  • Cotton Cable Pullover: Originally $79, discounted to $14.99, further to $11.24
  • Peep-Toe Ankle-Strap Sandals: Originally $149, discounted to $29.99, further to $22.49

Buy leather belts

J.Jill is always clearancing their belts, both in store and online. Their selection of leather belts (and a few metal ones as well) in a variety of styles (sling, double-wrap, metallic and skinny, to name a few) are too good to pass up for $4.99 or $9.99 discounted price points (with belts that normally retail at up to $50). In store, look for these clearance belts near the dressing room; online, look for them in the "Shoes and Accessories" outlet section. Sort by "Low to High" price to view the biggest bargains.

Sign up for e-mails

Perks await in your inbox when you sign up for J.Jill e-mails. Not only will you get fashion inspiration delivered to your inbox, but you'll also get special offers, discounts, and coupon codes. The week after I signed up and made my first purchase, I received a high-value $50 off with a $150 purchase coupon code. Sign up here, and you'll also be entered to win a $500 gift card!

Use free shipping promotions

J.Jill routinely offers free shipping promotions online, especially around holidays (think 4th of July, Labor Day, etc). Sometimes, these are with a minimum purchase. Look for a rolling banner advertising the promotion at the top of the J.Jill homepage, or check a code site like RetailMeNot.

Get a free $10

J.Jill thanks customers for shopping with them via coupon codes redeemable online for $10 off any purchase. These codes begin with the letters "THX" and then contain several numbers. For instance, "THX34" is currently active and can even be applied to sale and outlet merchandise. First-time customers can take advantage of these codes, too! If you don't get these in your inbox, RetailMeNot posts these as well.

Consider a J.Jill credit card

If you are a responsible spender and want some of the best card benefits of any apparel company, consider obtaining a J.Jill credit card. You'll get

  • 10% off your first purchase
  • 5% off every additional purchase
  • Additional 5% off during your birthday month
  • Complimentary gift packaging
  • Cardholder-only private sales, shopping days, and promotions

Get cash back through Ebates

If you are a current member of Ebates, you can receive cash back through J.Jill when using their site. But it gets even better — if you are new to Ebates, you can earn a $10 gift card with your first $25 purchase through their site.

Turn your Discover points into more money

When you accumulate $20 in cash back bonuses on your currently-held Discover Card, you can cash it in for a $25 merchandise gift card (shipped to you for free). Then, use the gift card (which is essentially like 20 percent free money) on top of codes and other in-store and online promotions to stretch your savings. If you do shop online, you can go through the ShopDiscover site to earn an automatic 5 percent cash back if you pay with your Discover card.
