“Smithsonian” magazine, an affiliate of the Smithsonian Museums in Washington DC and elsewhere, is again sponsoring a free museum day, September 29, 2012, where art and history lovers can enjoy some of the country’s most fascinating museums without paying a dime. Although most of the Washington-based Smithsonian museums are free every day, these museums usually charge an admission fee. Among the hundreds of museums included in this offer are:
- American Folk Museum – New York City
- Mission at San Juan Capistrano – San Luis Obispo, CA
- American Jazz Museum – Kansas City
- Conner Prairie Living History Museum – Indianapolis
- High Museum of Art – Atlanta
- Museum of Flight – Seattle
- Western Reserve Historical Society Museum – Cleveland
- National Civil War Museum – Harrisburg, PA
To take advantage of this offer, you need to print a (free) admission ticket in advance. There’s a limit of one ticket per household, and each ticket admits two persons. To print your ticket visit the “Smithsonian” magazine Web site. Note: there’s a limited number of tickets available for each site.
I’ve printed my ticket for the Thomas Edison Birthplace in Milan, OH (yes, I’m a geek.) Where are you planning to go?
