The Lowe’s Fourth of July Sale just kicked off and the deals are hot. One of the best deals we found was in stores on the 1.5-gallon hanging flower baskets. The price will vary by store, so make sure to enter your zip code when you check the weekly ad.

This is cheaper than what we saw last month for this hanging basket at Lowe’s, so now’s a good time to shop.

If you’re looking for a way to save water while fertilizing your plants, try using leftover water from boiled or steamed vegetables (or boiled egg water). It’s a great way to hydrate your plants without wasting water during times when it’s restricted.

Want to turn your food waste into a liquid compost for your garden? Use a blender to puree your leftover scraps with water and spread it throughout your garden. Just be sure not to include any meat or fish bones, dairy products, fats or oils, yard waste with chemicals, plants with diseases, or charcoal ash.

White vinegar can also be a handy garden tool to kill weeds. Simply spray them with vinegar to dry them out and get rid of them.

And for perfectly spaced plants, try using toilet paper as a garden tool. Measure out a length of toilet paper and create evenly spaced marks for your seeds. Create a paste with flour and water, use a toothpick to apply it to the toilet paper, and place the seeds on top. When it dries, roll up the paper and transport it to your garden.

There are plenty of ways to get creative and use everyday items for your garden, like turning a plastic bottle into an herb planter or using an over-the-door organizer as a vertical garden. So don’t be afraid to experiment and find what works best for you using the rest of these gardening hacks.
