Stop & Shop is a grocery chain with more than 400 stores in the Northeast — Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey.

Here's what you need to know about couponing at Stop & Shop.

Don't forget to look for Stop & Shop coupons on KCL's website before you shop.

First thing's first: Sign up for a Stop & Shop GO rewards account.

When you sign up for a Stop & Shop GO rewards account, you'll earn points, get special weekly offers and extra savings on gas, and be able to load coupons to your account. Plus, there are often sign up specials, like: "Earn 200 points when you spend $60 or more on eligible purchases."

Stop & Shop account holders earn one point for every dollar spent. The points only last for 30 days, so be sure to redeem yours before they expire. You can redeem between 100 and 2000 points in a single transaction.

Load Stop & Shop digital store coupons to your account.

Digital coupons can be used in person, online, in the app, or when shopping Stop & Shop grocery delivery through Peapod.

To use Stop & Shop digital coupons, make sure to "clip," or tap on them and load them to your account. That way, they'll be applied automatically at checkout — whether you're shopping in store, in app or online.

Download the Stop & Shop app to streamline your shopping.

If you download the Stop & Shop app, it'll make it that much easier to clip coupons as you shop — whether in store or via your phone — keep track of your digital orders and shopping lists, and place delivery and pickup orders when you're on the go.

Stop & Shop accepts paper, digital and Catalina manufacturer coupons.

You can clip your Stop & Shop coupons from the weekly ad, print them from your computer, or load the digital offers to your Stop & Shop account.

Catalina coupons print at the register at the end of a transaction — some are for a specific item, and some will be for an amount off your next purchase.

Stop & Shop automatically doubles manufacturer coupons under $0.99.

Stop & Shop will automatically double any coupon under $0.99 for its rewards members. (Doubling does not apply to liquor, cigarettes, or lottery tickets.) Up to four manufacturer coupons can be doubled in one transaction.

Stop & Shop does not, however, give cash back for coupons that exceed the value of an item. A coupon worth more than the item will be adjusted and you'll get the item for free.

PRO TIP: Keep your eyes peeled for occasional coupons that can be tripled in Stop & Shop's weekly ad.

You can stack manufacturer coupon with one store coupon.

Stop & Shop's coupon policy states that customers can stack one manufacturer coupon with one store coupon on a single item.

You can use up to 16 like manufacturer coupons in a single visit.

The maximum number of identical coupons allowed for each qualifying item is 16 — meaning you could buy 16 Dawn dish soaps using 16 of the same $1 off manufacturer coupons, if you can get your hands on that many.

You can stack free manufacturer coupons with store BOGO offers.

Stop & Shop's BOGO policy is generous: You can stack free item manufacturer coupons with Stop & Shop BOGO offers. That means if you buy an item for which both types of coupons exist, you will get both items for free.

That means that if, for example, Stop & Shop is having a BOGO sale on Halo mandarins, which also have an active BOGO manufacturer coupon, the paper manufacturer coupon would be used for the first bag of Halo mandarins, and the second would use the BOGO store offer. Both would be free!

Stop & Shop store coupons can be used at any location.

If you find a coupon in Stop & Shop's weekly ad that you'd like to use, location is of no consequence — Stop & Shop in-ad coupons are valid at all stores, even if the ad was for a specific location.

Your Stop & Shop GO rewards will help you save at the gas pump.

Your GO points can be redeemed in exchange for discounts on gas. For example, once you have 100 points, you can redeem them online to save $0.10 per gallon on up to 20 gallons of fuel.

Plus, you can stack your GO points with Fuel Rewards. If you're signed up for Fuel Rewards — a money-saving program that allows you to link an eligible credit card and start earning points based on your spending — you can stack those points with your Stop & Shop GO rewards points for extra savings at a Shell gas pump. That could take your savings from $0.10 per gallon to as much as $1.50 per gallon!
