Next time you buy a Groupon—keep these 10 tips in mind so you can get even more out of your purchase.

1. Use coupon codes to get an even better deal.

What would a krazy couponer do? Stack those already discounted products with coupons and promo codes, of course! Groupon offers coupons right on their site. Under “Coupons” select “Stores” and choose “Groupon.”

2. Shop on $5 Deal Day for deals starting at just $5.

Stack a coupon code on top of one of these deals and relish the savings.

3. Don’t buy a deal until you consider any additional costs.

Will you need to drive across town and waste gas? Are there pricey shipping charges? Do you have to buy or rent special equipment for an additional charge? These extras add up fast.

4. Refer your friends and earn a gift card.

If you refer a friend, you’ll receive $10 in Groupon bucks after they purchase their first deal. Just sign in and click on your name in the top right-hand corner—a drop-down box will appear, and then you can click “refer a friend.” This will bring you to a page where you can get your own personal link that you can send out to all your friends! You can also earn Groupon gift cards—just for using Bing—check it out here.

5. Read all of the fine print.

There’s actually a section along the right that says “The Fine Print.” Read it all and make sure you really know what you’re purchasing! For instance, the other day I found a Groupon for the hair salon that I go to every few months; however, it detailed that it could only be used if you hadn’t received a service within the last six months (and I went a few weeks ago). I really would have been wasting my money if I hadn’t read the fine print!

6. Get at least 50% off by searching “Best of Groupon.”

If you need a Groupon in a hurry (for a gift or if you just need to save on an activity for the family) check out the “Best of Groupon.” It’ll give you the best deals—about 50% savings (or more!)—and they’re all in one place. It’s easy to spend hours scrolling through all the great steals on Groupon, but you can really save time with this fast and simple trick!

7. Go mobile and get targeted deals.

When you go mobile with Groupon, it can detect where you are (if you’re out of town for the weekend or on an extended vacation) and give you the best deals even when you’re on the go. You can get the app for free here.

8. Complete your profile and be presented with the best deals for you.

The more you order, tweet, like, or pin with Groupon—the more Groupon will accurately show you what you’re interested in. So make sure to get personal with Groupon by indicating what you’re interested in under your profile—it can save you hours of hunting for great deals.

9. Skip the Groupon and negotiate a better price on your own.

Since Groupon takes a large percentage of the total sale, try contacting the business yourself. I’ve let a few businesses know that I was interested in purchasing a Groupon for their product and they’ve offered to give me the same or even lower price if I booked with them directly.

10. Sell your unused vouchers on CoupFlip.

We’ve all bought a Groupon that was such a great deal that we just couldn’t miss out on it—only to regret it a few days later. Luckily, you can now sell your (and buy) unused Groupons with CoupFlip.
