We’re well into summer vacation, and you’re probably looking for things to do with the kids. We’ve got the answer: sidewalk paint and chalk spray! Try these fun outdoor paints to keep the kids happy and busy on those long summer days. The best part: these recipes are super easy to make with materials you already have around the house!
Chalk Spray:
Materials Needed:
- 1 tsp washable tempera paint (make sure it is washable!)
- 1 cup hot water
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- Squirt of dishwashing liquid
- 1 squirt bottle
Directions:
- Combine all ingredients in a bowl and pour into your squirt bottle. In order to avoid spills, I used a funnel to pour the paint into the bottle. Shake well before use.
- Take your paint outside, or even use on long pieces of butcher paper and enjoy something fun to do on long summer days.
Sidewalk Paint:
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- Food coloring
- Craft brushes
- Container for the paint (such as an ice cube tray or small bowls)
Directions:
- Combine cornstarch and water. Mix well.
- Add food coloring.
- Use craft brushes to create art on the sidewalk!
Tip: Spray your driveway or sidewalk off soon after use to avoid staining.
