If two of your favorite things include crafting and spending time with your kids, Michaels is the place to be on either Saturdays or Sundays. Their Sunday Make Breaks are essentially Michaels free craft classes in mini form — there’s a different project each week that only takes about 15 minutes to complete. These alternate every other week with the free Kids Club activities on Saturdays.
Michaels typically releases their craft class schedule a month out. On deck for Sunday Make Breaks: Spring Wreath (March 3) and Hand Painted Flower Eggs (March 17). The Sunday events run from 2 - 4 p.m. local time.
Note that for the Spring Wreath craft, you will have to purchase a Grapevine Wreath to participate, making it not totally free.
For the Saturday Kids Club activities, here's what's coming up: Friendship Bracelets (March 9), Plastic Egg Bunnies (March 23). The Saturday events run from 10 a.m. - noon local time.
While this is the schedule on Michaels’ site, check with your local store in case they’re mixing things up. And did we mention it’s completely free? Because yeah, it is.

Do I have to register to attend Michaels free craft classes for kids?
What we love about the Michaels free kids’ crafts events is that you really just need to remember when (Sundays) and what time (2 – 4 p.m.) they’re happening. There’s no preregistration necessary. You just show up with your kids, and all they need is their imaginations. The activities typically take just 15 minutes, so they’re perfect for small children who may not have the attention span yet for a bigger project.
Seriously, these in-store classes are usually free.
Now we cannot promise you your kids won’t start begging for all of the artsy stuff available to purchase on Michaels shelves, but the supplies involved in these Sunday Make Break crafts are typically gratis. There’s also the option to request a Kids Take & Make if your child is in the middle of meltdown central and cannot hang.
