Amazon drivers are notoriously overworked, especially during the holiday season. So every year, Amazon gives shoppers the chance to say, "Thank you" via Alexa (and get their driver a tip).
The program allows those with Alexa-enabled device or the Amazon app to say, “Alexa, thank my driver," and Amazon sends your most recent delivery driver $5.
The 2025 program has ended, and we expect it back in December 2026. It reached the limit of 2 million thank-yous for the initial $5 tips on Dec. 10 (it started Dec. 3). Between Dec. 10 - 31, Amazon randomly selected 1,250 thanked drivers each day. Those drivers got $100 rewards.

The “Alexa, Thank My Driver” program is an annual driver appreciation program that lasts as long as a month.
The “Thank My Driver” program usually comes around every December, starting on Dec. 3 in 2025, Dec. 4 in 2024, Dec. 12 in 2023, and Dec. 7 in 2022. The program remains active until the first 2 million people have thanked their drivers. In 2025, the program hit 2 million thank-yous after seven days.
When the $5 program ends, you can still thank your driver. Amazon tracks these reports and uses them to determine which drivers can win more money beyond the initial $5 tips.
KCL predicts "Alexa, Thank My Driver" will return Dec. 2 - 31 in 2026.
Amazon has usually kicked off this event in early December. In 2024 and 2025, it started the first Wednesday of the month, so we expect the same in 2026.
You'll need an Alexa device or a smartphone to thank your driver.
There are two ways to participate in the gratitude program.
First, the “Thank My Driver” feature is available to U.S. customers with an Alexa-enabled device (Echo, Echo Show) or the Alexa app or Amazon Shopping app.
Just say, “Alexa, thank my driver,” and your most recent driver will be notified. Second, you can type “Thank my driver” into the search bar of your Amazon app. Your latest Amazon driver will be notified.
Can I thank my driver if I don’t have a smartphone?
Unfortunately, if you don’t have a smartphone or an Alexa-enabled device , you won’t be able to participate in the Amazon “Thank My Driver” feature.

You can use the service to thank your driver within 14 days of their most recent delivery. Although the $5 bonus program usually ends pretty quickly every year, you’ll still be able to say thank you using your Echo, Alexa devices, or Alexa and Amazon Shopping apps.
Which Amazon drivers get the $5 bonus?
Amazon Flex Delivery Partners, Delivery Associates employed by Amazon Delivery Service Partners, and Hub DP drivers are all eligible for the $5 bonuses, up until the first 2 million users thank their drivers. After that, drivers will be alerted someone thanked them, but won't get $5. They will, however, have that thank-you counted toward their tally for one of the bigger prizes.
How will I know “Thank My Driver” worked?
You’ll know it works when your Alexa responds, “Glad you enjoyed your most recent delivery. Since you shared your appreciation with your driver, as a special thanks this holiday season, your driver will receive an extra $5 at no cost to you. This promotion is for a limited time only.” After the $5 promo ends, you'll get something like, "We're glad you enjoyed your last delivery, we'll let your driver know."
