Over 14,000 strollers have been named in an UPPAbaby stroller recall; you might have one. A child was severely injured from one of their strollers, and now UPPAbaby and the Consumer Product Safety Commission are issuing a voluntary recall.
The recalled strollers pose a serious injury risk, so it’s important to check if your stroller is included. You probably want to know the next steps if you have one and if there’s a refund. We answer all that and more:
Why is there an UPPAbaby stroller recall?
On Sept. 1, 2022, UPPAbaby announced a voluntary recall of over 14,000 of their All-Terrain Ridge Jogging strollers after a child’s finger was amputated after is got caught in the rear disc brakes of the stroller.
So far, this has been the only reported injury. But the threat of this incident being repeated is out there, and that’s why they’re recalling these strollers.
Which strollers are affected by the UPPAbaby recall?
The 14,400 recalled strollers are branded the UPPAbaby All-Terrain Ridge Jogging Strollers. These strollers come in different colors/varieties, and all are in the recall. Here are the names of the three varieties:
- Jake (charcoal color)
- Bryce (white color)
- Reggie (slate blue)
To check if yours is included, look for the brand name (UPPAbaby) on the front of the stroller and the model name (Ridge) on the side of the stroller frame.
The affected products will have serial numbers starting with 1401RDGUS, which you’ll find on the right side of the stroller frame above the rear wheel.
Model number 1401-RDG-US is found on the left side of the stroller frame above the rear wheel of the stroller.
The recalled strollers were sold at Buybuy Baby, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Pottery Barn Kids, Amazon, and other children or baby stores from October 2021 to August 2022.
