Looking for the best Prime Week deals in 2023? We’ve got you covered.

What began as Amazon Prime Day has morphed into a few days of killer summer deals. Like a Prime Day, Black Friday in July mash-up. We’re calling it Prime Week and we expect it from July 11th to July 12th this year. Over the course of Prime Week, you’ll find Black Friday-like prices on a lot of really cool stuff that normally has really gross price tags.

In short, look for Amazon devices from — you guessed it — Amazon, and more generally, expect to see great deals on electronics and housewares. You could even start ticking off your Christmas shopping list with deals on toys and clothing. Read on for more details about which items are the best things to buy during Prime Week and what deals we expect in 2023. And, of course, we’ll keep updating this post with more Prime Week deals as we get closer to the event.

Here’s your cheat sheet for what every retailer is doing during Prime Week:

Prime Week Deals KCL Staffers Love

1. Get a $19.99 Echo Dot 4th Generation Smart Speaker bundle from Amazon.

  • Best place to buy: Amazon
  • Second best place to buy: Target

Listen, Amazon is hands-down the place to buy your Echo Dot device. In 2022, we were thrilled when we found out we could get a 4th Gen Echo Dot (plus a smart bulb!) for just $19.99 (regularly $64.98). The closest deal that week was at Target where you could apply your 5% RedCard savings to the $49.99 regular price, bringing it down to $47.49. Nowhere near the Echo deal at Amazon.

This has been true for Echo Dots year after year, and generally speaking, Amazon is going to have the best prices on their own branded devices during the Prime Day event.

2. One of my personal favorite Prime Week deals in 2022 was a KitchenAid mixer — from Target.

Someone holding a KitchenAid 5 quart stand mixer in an aisle at Target.

  • Best place to buy: Target
  • Second best place to buy: Best Buy

One of my favorite scores from last year was a KitchenAid mixer. KitchenAid deals are fairly synonymous with Black Friday, and Black Friday in July is no different. Even so, 2022 was the first year Target offered KitchenAid prices this low. (In 2021, retailers didn’t offer steep savings until Black Friday in the fall on Amazon.)

We expect these savings to carry on in 2023. And Target is absolutely the place to get a deal on these, since the KitchenAid Professional 5 Quart Stand Mixer came in at $265.99 (regularly $449.99) last year. Best Buy was a close second and a good option when Target’s stock ran low. Once again, it’s just that 5% RedCard discount that made the Target deal better than Best Buy.

3. Find $10 promos or up to 35% savings on everyday groceries on Amazon.

  • Best place to buy: Amazon
  • Second best place to buy: Walmart

Last year for Prime Day, Amazon offered $10 off a $50 grocery purchase. “This was super rare and exciting, and I stocked up on canned tuna,” says Emma McCabe, a Senior Content Writer. “They had a ton of other groceries of all kinds.”

Overall, you can expect up to 35% off grocery essentials, based on what we’ve seen in past Prime Days. This includes pantry staples from pasta and snacks to baby food and fresh produce. Just know that a lot of the Prime Day grocery deals will require you to purchase items in bulk, but this will get you a lower cost per product.

4. Fire Tablets, Nintendo Switch games, and more tech usually go on sale during Prime Week.

  • Best place to buy: Amazon
  • Second best place to buy: Best Buy

Rinse and repeat what I said about the Echo device. Nobody can compete with Amazon’s price on the Fire tablet, and this has been true since Amazon launched devices in 2014. It’s definitely one of the best things to buy during Prime Week!

In years past, a Fire Tablet 7 from Amazon was $32.98 during Prime week. Compare this to runner-up Best Buy’s price: $49.99. And, just like its adult counterpart, the Amazon Fire 7 Kids tablet saw major sales. It was half off, bringing the price down to $70. The Kid’s Echo Dot was also discounted, with a final price of just $25, i.e. a 58% savings. Similarly, other kid’s devices are typically on sale during Prime Week. Children’s Kindle Paperwhite was $50 off last year.

Our Digital Content Creator Kathryn Seow also looks forward to deals on headphones, tablets, Nintendo Switch games, and learning kits for her kids. And while the most popular Nintendo games are notoriously never on sale, select titles see discounts of up to 33% during Prime Week. Last year, discounted games included Super Mario Party, Pokemon Shining Pearl, and Splatoon 2.

5. Stock up on high-end skincare and beauty products.

Beauty buffs will delight in the deals on name-brand goods. “I love to stock up on premium beauty brands during Prime Day,” says Amy Windmiller, Digital Content Manager. “This is the only other time besides Black Friday that we see major discounts on these brands.” Expect to see sizable discounts on big names like COSrx and Olaplex, and products like the Grande Lash Enhancing Serum and Essence Mascara.

Standout discounts in 2022 included up to 50% off Sunday Riley skincare, up to 40% off on IT Cosmetics, and 30% off MURAD skincare. We’re expecting similar deals this year.

6. You could get a TV for about the same price from Amazon or Walmart.

  • Best place to buy: Amazon
  • Second best place to buy: Walmart

Last year we saw a 32-inch Insignia Smart HD Fire TV for $99.99 (regularly $179.99) from Amazon. These were huge savings, even for Amazon. During Prime Week in 2021, the deepest discount I saw on TVs from Amazon only got into the 40% savings range.

Walmart came in as a second option with 34% TV savings. You could get a TCL 32″ Roku Smart TV for $99 (regularly $149).

7. Shoppers who bought robotic vacuums at Kohl’s also earned $20 in Kohl’s Cash.

  • Best place to buy: Kohl’s
  • Second best place to buy: Walmart

Robotic vacuums are one of the best things to buy during Prime Week. And you can’t really go wrong with deals from either Kohl’s or Walmart. Last year we saw that, like with Apple Watch, Kohl’s offered the best value, but Walmart offered the best price.

Kohl’s is the long-standing champion of vacuum deals during Black Friday. Year after year, they offer the best deals, but Walmart has steadily been creeping up as a competitor. During Prime Week 2022, Walmart offered an $89 Ionvac Robotic vacuum deal. It’s regularly $179.88, so shoppers saved 51%.

One thing Kohl’s offered that Walmart didn’t is Kohl’s Cash you can spend on future purchases. In the case of last year, you could get a Shark ION Robotic vacuum for $149.99 (regularly $299.99), and earn $30 in Kohl’s Cash on top of that, for 58% savings.

8. We saw the best value on an Apple Watch from Amazon, even if Walmart was cheaper.

  • Best place to buy: Amazon
  • Second best place to buy: Walmart

Hear me out — in 2022, the Apple Watch Series 7 was $309 on Amazon. But it’s regularly $429. When you compare these previous savings (28%) with the 2022 savings on an Apple Watch Series 3 at Walmart, shoppers actually got a better deal on the more spendy Apple Watch.

The Apple Watch Series 3 at Walmart was $149, but regularly $199. That’s a 25% savings. If you’re going for the best value, we recommend splurging on the Series 7 from Amazon this year. If you want a lower price tag, Walmart is your best bet.

9. Surprise! Amazon had the best Prime Week deal on Solo 3 Wireless headphones, not Target.

  • Best place to buy: Amazon
  • Second best place to buy: Target

Amazon did it again. While Target is usually the best place to find a deal on Beats headphones, during 2022 Prime Week, it was Amazon.

Shoppers got a pair of Beats Solo 3 Wireless headphones from Amazon for just $114.95 (regularly $199.95). Target was runner-up with a deal on the exact same pair for $129.99

10. Shoppers who opted for a Playstation VR Headset bundle from Walmart over Amazon saved $69.

  • Best place to buy: Walmart
  • Second best place to buy: Amazon

Last year, a direct comparison of the Playstation VR Headset bundle at Walmart versus Amazon showed Walmart as the top dog. Both retailers had the regular price set at $349.99, but shoppers only paid $249.99 at Walmart. It was $319 at Amazon.

11. 2022 saw $14.99 dresses at Kohl’s (and 50% savings on clothing in general).

  • Best place to buy: Kohl’s
  • Second best place to buy: Target

One of the best things I love to get during Prime Week is clothing at Kohl’s. I’m talking $14.99 dresses and $19.99 denim last year. Plus, I even saw 50% off men’s Izod clothing and 30% off kids’ Nike, Under Armour, and Adidas.

Target got second place for clothing deals because they don’t have as wide of a selection. They offered 50% off Cat and Jack styles.

12. I like to buy toys at either Target or Kohl’s to save up to 50%.

  • Best place to buy: Target
  • Second best place to buy: Kohl’s

Sure, you can find savings on toy brands like Barbie and CoCoMelon during Amazon’s upcoming Prime Day sale. And they may even be up to 60% off (find current Amazon deals if you have a specific toy brand in mind). But last year Target offered a general 50% off most toys, and Kohl’s followed as a close second with the bulk of their toys reaching up to 40% off.

13. You can save on name-brand toys, electronics, and other gift items at Amazon during Prime Week.

Prime Week usually offers deals that rival Black Friday. And, by spreading your gift shopping across multiple sales events, you can make sure you have a little extra cash during the holiday season for travel and other expenses. “I also start my Christmas gift stockpile around Prime Day,” says McCabe, “So I look for name brand electronics, name brand cosmetics, hair styling tools, Nintendo Switch games, kids toys, and dog toys.”
