To celebrate educators and school staff for the new school year, Sonic gave away free food and drinks to educators and school staff the week of Monday, Aug. 21, 2023. Each weekday a new free menu item appeared. Teachers and educators needed to download the Sonic app and sign up for Sonic Teachers’ Circle. Then, purchase another item through the app to get the freebie coupon sent to you.
The “Here’s to You, Teach!,” program gives teachers everything from free drinks and cold brews to fries and cheeseburgers. Wanna keep the fast food train rolling? There are some Sonic secret menu hacks to consider next time you’re in the mood for those crispy tots.
Sonic isn’t the only restaurant showing their love to teachers. Chipotle’s teacher appreciation promotion let the public nominate a teacher in hopes of winning part of $100,000 in school supplies for the 2023-2024 school year. Each day had a different freebie with purchase, from drinks to cheeseburgers.

Sonic’s weeklong celebration of teachers provided educators with a well-deserved treat amid the hustle and bustle of a new academic year. You needed to make a purchase through Sonic’s app to get the freebie. You could have ordered something like a vanilla cone ($2.43), Jr. Cheeseburger ($2.18), or lemonade (as low as $1.94), depending on what best complement’s the day’s freebie.

- Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2023 – Free Breakfast Entrée
- Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2023 – Free Small Cold Brew

- Friday, Aug. 25, 2023 – Free Sonic Cheeseburger
Keep in mind that this special promotion wasn’t valid on combos or deliveries. And each reward was valid once.
Teachers in K-12 schools and degree-granting colleges and universities were eligible.

Along with teachers, faculty and staff members could have gotten free food and drinks during the one-week promotion. You needed to be an employee of a K-12 school or college/university that awards degrees. Sonic needed to verify your information through the app, and then you’ll were all set to get the reward sent to you.
The free food and drinks are only redeemable through the Sonic app.

Download the Sonic app, create an account, and sign up for Sonic Teachers’ Circle to access the free menu items. This reward program is exclusively for educators. To get the free perks, you’ll need to update your account profile icon and confirm that you’re an educator (select “I’m a Teacher!”). Keep in mind that promotions can vary by drive-in, so confirm participation at your local Sonic.
