Educators can expect a variety of discounts during Teacher Appreciation Week, including things like free coffee, free desserts, gift card offers, and exclusive discounts. There are also teacher-only giveaways and sweepstakes happening. In every case, teachers have to present valid school ID.
While we wait for businesses to announce all of their 2024 National Teacher Appreciation Week deals, we'll be updating this post daily with confirmed National Teacher Week deals.
Teacher Appreciation Week happens once a year, recognizing teachers with special deals and freebies.
National Teacher Appreciation Week began in 1984 when people successfully lobbied Congress to officially set aside the entire first full week (Monday-Friday) in May to say thank you to teachers for their hard work. It wraps around National Teacher Appreciation Day, which is always the Tuesday of the first full week of May.
Restaurants, stores, and other businesses observe National Teacher Appreciation Week with discounts, specials, and freebies available only to educators.
The next Teacher Appreciation Week will start Monday, May 6, 2024.
Teacher Appreciation Week always starts the first Monday in May, running through Friday of that week. In 2024, that’s Monday, May 6, through Friday, May 10.

Here's how it has worked in the past: Once verified as a teacher through the Target app, you received a notification on Sunday night (beginning of Teacher Appreciation Week) with a 10% off disount on one in-store or online purchase.
